MONKEES 8-TRACKS
Monkees 8-tracks are highly sought after by both Monkees collectors and 8-track collectors as well. 8-tracks were not very popular in the 1960s, and very few people invested their money into buying them. (Heck, most people were still buying mono records until 1968!)

For the most part, ALL Monkees 8-tracks will run anywhere between $1 (if you get lucky and find one at a garage sale) and $200. The following is a list of the Monkees 8-tracks issued from 1966-1986, with the price reflecting the value of a NEAR MINT cartridge AND box. Please note the prices reflect what serious colectors would pay....and assuming they are buying from someone who knows 8-tracks are actually worth something. In some cases, the price range reflects how much the item has sold for recently...in others, the price I believe collectors would pay. Since some titles are so rare ("Changes", etc) it is impossible to tell what they would actually sell for in an auction...

SOLO MONKEE 8-TRACKS

The solo Monkee 8-tracks, in comparison to The Monkees', are far more common and can be found at a reasonable price. The only exception would be the Quad versions of Mike Nesmith's "Magnetic South" and "Loose Salute", the latter being highly sought after as it includes a version of "Silver Moon" that features an extended solo and the complete cold ending (i.e. it's not faded out).

"Wichita Train Whistle Sings" (Nesmith)
Dot ??? $50-$75
note: a Playtape EP of this album (item #0908) was also released, which contained four songs: "Tapioca Tundra", "Don't Cry Now", "While I Cried", and "Papa Gene's Blue" (sic). I'm unclear as to it's value, and it is also not certain if the complete album was issued on this format as well. By the way, Playtapes are about the same size as cassettes and work like 8-tracks....a format that never went over.             Wichita Playtape
