(WebSite Last Updated 24th July 1997)
St James' Church Southbroom serves as the Parish Church for the Eastern half of the town of Devizes. Devizes is a small market town of about 12,000 people, at the West end of the Marlborough Downs 25 miles from Bath and about the same distance from Salisbury. St James' is sited beside the Crammer, the ancient pond by the Green at Devizes thought to have been the hiding place used by the smugglers in the Moonraker legend.
The congregation of about 200 regular worshippers is very broad incorporating most strands of churchmanship. In addition to serving as the Parish Church for Southbroom and Roundway, St James' is also the home church to the Wiltshire Regiment.
