As we approach the millenium the congregation at St James', in common with many churches in the diocese, are reviewing our mission and role in our community. Our parish is growing fast and whilst 6,000 is not huge number in comparison with many inner city parishes it still represents a large task for a congregation of about 200.
With the growth of housing in the parish comes the expansion of schooling and community care which goes with it. We are looking to how best to fulfil the pastoral role which is expected of the church whilst still remaining true to our basic mission - to preach Christ. In an increasingly secular world we are seeking to represent the truths of the gospel in an accessible manner so that as many people as possible may have the opportunity to respond to the call of God on their lives.
