The Alexander H. Stephens Camp 78 was chartered in 1974 in Americus,Georgia. We currently have 180 members and are one of the largest camps in the Georgia Division. We are a very active camp with several ongoing projects which help to preserve our Confederate heritage. Some of these are:
1) Flags across Sumter project.Camp sells flag poles for $60.00 donation with US and real Georgia flag.
2) Document all Confederate veterans burial sites in Sumter Co.
3) Headstone ordering & placement for Confederate graves.
4) Compile service records for veterans buried in Confederate plot at OakGrove Cemetery, Americus, GA.
5) Print and sell the book "Trial of Henry Wirz" by Mildred Rutherford.
6) Maintain Confederate flag at Confederate Plot at OakGrove Cemetery.
