MELISSA BLUM
No. 13
Melissa has been a mainstay of the United for seven years at Midfield and
Forward. She is an Honor Roll senior with a 3.6 GPA at St. Andrews
Episcopal School, and has matched her academic success with outstanding
achievements in school sports: Four years of varsity soccer (1997 Team
Captain, Honorable Mention All-Met Soccer Team, Potomac Valley Athletic
Conference MVP, and PVAC Leading Scorer for two years); three years of
varsity basketball; and three years of varsity lacrosse (including PVAC
Leading Scorer in 1997). Melissa has also served as sports editor
for her school yearbook, and has participated in Olympic Development Program
soccer for three years. In the summer of 1996, she was part of an
East Coast select team that competed in an international tournament in
Antwerp, Belgium. After school, Melissa enjoys snowboarding, scuba
diving and photography. Her service activities include clinician
for the MSI Player Development Program and volunteer for Montgomery County's
Pre-School Education Program for disabled children. She plans to
attend a college with a strong soccer program.
