KURT'S STANG II
My name is Kurt Stehr, I live in Marietta, Ga. just north of Atlanta. I have owned this 78 Mustang II hatchback for four years. The last two years it was sitting in my driveway, tired V6 and no money. Last October, I decided to get the STANG running again, besides I needed two cars running again. My wife, Kathie, has a 94 Probe GT and we have 89,000 miles on it already. It was about time to give it a breather for awhile.
Now the decision was to either buy a rebuilt V6 for $1,200 or $1,800 installed and three year warranty. But there was still no guarantee it would pass Ga. emissions. Or to buy another engine I could work on, the V6 was a pain, with all the hoses and vacuum lines. My neighbor had a 84 Mustang GT 5.0 with a 5speed, and was selling it for $800. I bought it and started swapping out the engine and transmission. It required some hard work and some modifications, but really wasn't that difficult.
The exhaust system was a different story, since I wanted headers and Flowmasters. So I took it local muffler shop, Grand Muffler, everybody was recommending them. Two sets of headers, some mods and $800, I had my headers and Flowmasters.
I work in machine shop where we specialize in EDM work. EDM standing for electrical discharge machining. For more information click onto the link below. It was helpful for some parts I had to make or modify. We also do some work for some people that build NASCAR cars, learn about some mods to do to my 302. Other work for space station, space shuttle, auto, plastics, etc. There are many applications for this work.
Since these pictures were taken, I have changed a few items. As soon as I can get more current photos ( new radiator, hoses, hood scoop, etc. ) I will post them. Also I have several e-mails asking about headers, I will try to get detailed pictures of headers, and exhaust system on my car. I put in a 18" reverse rotation flex fan, along with the electric fan. Now my car runs at a temp range of 175 to 190 degrees.

I have a 78 II hatchback, red/white ext. V8, auto, factory a/c, sunroof, etc.
74 Mach I, V6,auto, needs int. and ext. work. Good parts car.
