It is always a good idea to carry at least ONE reload for your main gun. Not that you really plan to execute a speed reload on the street, but if you are involved in a shooting situation, as Jeff Cooper once pointed out, "It's poor form to go home with a partially loaded gun."
Magazine pouches are an often overlooked piece of equipment. Some people, if they carry a reload at all, carry it in their pocket. While this is better than not having any reload, the lint and coins that accumulate in magazines carried that way is not acceptable !
Why don't more people carry a reload ? Two reasons: 1) It just isn't very convenient. Most magazine pouches have to be threaded on your belt, or if they clip on, they always seem to come off at the wrong time.
Our magazine pouches clip on from underneath the belt, so you're not going to pull the pouch off the belt when you go for your reload!
2) They are too heavy ! This is mainly true with the double magazine pouches for double stack guns. The choice becomes, TWO reloads.....or NO reloads.
