We have tried to give you a panoramic view of our upper work area. Our surface is a 4x8 piece of chipboard, very inexpensive.  We bought ours at Lowe's.   They will cut to size.  We put wallpaper over ours and covered it with old glass table tops (terrific for keeping pictures of the kids and grandkids close). The board is supported by those inexpensive plastic free standing shelves, that are available almost anywhere.  You'll need one for a center support depending on board size.  We store the plastic shoe boxes beneath as well as above.  These store dried flowers, shingles, lace trims, etc. A small sewing table between us gives us a surface for the cutting and pounding which cannot be done on the glass surface. Everything is within easy reach.  You can see we make use of every inch.  We use many lazy susans--some sort our scissors, brushes, tweezers etc.--some hold paints, glues etc.  The small hardware cabinets sort our beads, tooth picks, jewelry findings, tiny finds etc.   Hanging baskets under the shelves are kind of "catch alls".  We label everything.  The actual doll house building goes on off to the side where there is a TV stand on which we work.  If the project becomes too large we move to a closed in porch (temperatures permitting) or we move to the kitchen table.   If we can offer suggestions, E-mail us.  We'll try to help.
