Angels We Have Heard On High
Angels we have heard on high,
Singing sweetly through the night,
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their brave delight.
Gloria
In excelsis Deo.
Gloria
In excelsis Deo.
Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why these songs of happy cheer?
What great brightness did you see?
What glad tiding did you hear?
Gloria
In excelsis Deo.
Gloria
In excelsis Deo.
Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee
Christ, the Lord, the new-born King.
Gloria
In excelsis Deo.
Gloria
In excelsis Deo.
See him in a manger laid
Whom the angels praise above;
Mary, Joseph, lend your aid,
While we raise our hearts in love.
Gloria
In excelsis Deo.
Gloria
In excelsis Deo.
The Story of Mistletoe
Christmas is a cherished legacy of legend and love.
As a symbol of good will and affection, mistletoe has special significance
in this galaxy of giving and sharing, candlelight and carols.
In pagan times,
Druid priests of Britain distributed sprigs of mistletoe to all their followers.
He who had the mystic plant hanging over his doorway would enjoy
the blessings of health and good fortune thoughout the coming year.
The custom of kissing under the mistletoe is of Scandinavian origin.
It was believed that the goddess of love and beauty
would kiss all who stood beneath its boughs.
So today to exchange a kiss under a sprig of mistletoe
is to taste the joys of Christmas--and of Love!
The Present
Every sunrise is a present, a gift from God above,
Gift-wrapped with scarlet ribbons and tied with bows of love.
Each day's a new beginning, a time to start a new,
While all the stars are sleeping, and the rose is fresh with dew.
Everyday's a new creation, too lovely to ignore,
and we may find a blessing, just outside our door.
We cannot keep the past, like fireflies in a jar;
Nor journey to the future by wishing on a star.
Every sunrise is a blessing, a gift for just today.
Rejoice, my friend, embrace it before it fades away.

CHRISTMAS IS . . .
Christmas is a time of love,
A time of joy and cheer.
Christmas is a peaceful time,
That wondrous time of year.
A time of faith, a time of hope,
Of friendships much more true;
Christmas is a joyous time
When love shall come to you.
Christmas is a little child.
It's tinsel shining bright,
Frosted windows, snowy lanes,
Candles in the night.
It's Santa Claus and dreams come true,
So much that gladness sees;
It's holly wreaths and silver bells
And star-tipped Christmas trees.
Christmas is a place called home...
A door thrown open wide;
A crackling fire all aglow
And loving hearts inside.
It's happy faces, shining eyes,
Soft music in the air;
It's tissue, ribbon, cards to write
And secrets everywhere.
Christmas is a lighted church...
The very nicest part,
Believing in a special way
A prayer that fills your heart.
It's friendliness so much more real,
A blessing from above;
Christmas is the special time
We greet the folks we love.......
Merry Christmas to YOU and Your Family!
The Best Day of My Life
Today, when I awoke, I suddenly realized that this is
the best day of my life, ever!
There were times when I wondered if I would make it to
today; but I did! And because I did I'm going to celebrate!
Today, I'm going to celebrate what an unbelievable life
I have had so far: the accomplishments, the many blessings,
and, yes, even the hardships because they have served to
make me stronger.
I will go through this day with my head held high, and
a happy heart. I will marvel at God's seemingly simple
gifts: the morning dew, the sun, the clouds, the trees, the
flowers, the birds. Today, none of these miraculous
creations will escape my notice.
Today, I will share my excitement for life with other
people. I'll make someone smile. I'll go out of my way to
perform an unexpected act of kindness for someone I don't
even know. Today, I'll give a sincere compliment to someone
who seems down. I'll tell a child how special he is, and
I'll tell someone I love just how deeply I care for her and
how much she means to me.
Today is the day I quit worrying about what I don't
have and start being grateful for all the wonderful things
God has already given me. I'll remember that to worry is
just a waste of time because my faith in God and his Divine
Plan ensures everything will be just fine.
And tonight, before I go to bed, I'll go outside and
raise my eyes to the heavens. I will stand in awe at the
beauty of the stars and the moon, and I will praise God for
these magnificent treasures.
As the day ends and I lay my head down on my pillow,
I will thank the Almighty for the best day of my life.
And I will sleep the sleep of a contented child, excited with
expectation because I know tomorrow is going to be the best
day of my life, ever!

Wishes
The Season is upon us
A joyful time indeed
A time we think of what we want
Much more than what we need
A time for making wishes
For spreading lots of cheer
A time for reminiscing
On the passing of the year
So while I`m making wishes
One thing I will not do.
I`ll not forget to tell you of
The things I wish for you
Real love in the morning
True Love for afternoon
And Love that lasts forever
Underneath the sun and moon
Peace when storms surround you
Comfort in the night
Someone to confide in
When things are just not right
Happiness and Laughter
Joy that`s deep within
Friends that you can turn to
And on whom you can depend
Knowledge when you don`t know
Just what you`re going to do
Wisdom that will guide you
And help you make it through
Strength to face another day
When your heart is wracked with pain
And those no longer with you
Still in your heart remain
So now I wish you all these things
And send to you my love
These gifts that I can`t give to you
Come only from Above
Happy Holidays

Dear Santa...
Snowflakes softly falling
Upon your window pane,
Your blankets snug around you,
into sleep you drift away.
I bend to gently kiss you,
when I see that on the floor...
There's a letter, neatly written
I wonder who it's for.
I quietly unfold it
making sure you're still asleep,
It's a Christmas list for Santa--
one my heart will always keep.
It started just as always
with the toys seen on TV,
A new watch for your father
and a winter coat for me.
But as my eyes read on
I could see that deep inside
There were many things you wished for
that your loving heart would hide.
You asked if your friend Molly
could have another dad;
It seems her father hits her
and it makes you very sad.
Then you asked dear Santa
if the neighbor down the street
Could find a job, that he might have
some food, and clothes, and heat.
You saw a family on the news
whose house had blown away;
"Dear Santa, send them just one thing:
a place where they can stay."
"And Santa, those four cookies that
I left you for a treat,
Could you take them to the children
who have nothing else to eat?"
"Do you know that little bear I have--
the one I love so dear?
I'm leaving it for you to take
to Africa this year."
"And as you fly your reindeer
on this night of Jesus'' birth,
Could your magic bring to everyone
goodwill and peace on earth?"
"There's one last thing before you go--
so grateful I would be--
If you'd smile at Baby Jesus
in the manger by our tree."
I pulled the letter close to me;
I felt it melt my heart.
Those tiny hands had written
what no other could impart.
"And a little child shall lead them,"
was whispered in my ear
As I watched you sleep on Christmas Eve
while Santa Claus was here.

Why Christmas Trees Aren't Perfect
Long, long ago, in a land far away, lived a perfect little tree named Small Pine.
Small pine hoped to maintain its perfect form and be selected by the Queen
as her Christmas tree. But as the warmhearted little tree gave shelter to
birds, rabbits, and deer in the forest, its branches became damaged.
Fortunately, the Queen had a different idea of perfection.
The Queen, Queen's family and all the villagers said that Small Pine was the
finest Christmas tree yet. For in looking at its drooping, nibbled branches,
they saw the protecting arm of their father or the comforting lap of a mother.
And some, like the wise Queen saw the love of Christ expressed on earth.
So if you walk among evergreens today, you will find, along with rabbits,
birds and other happy living things, many trees like Small Pine.
You will see a drooping limb which gives cover, a gap offering a warm
resting place, or branches ragged from feeding hungry animals.
For, as have many of us, the trees have learned that living for the sake
of others makes us most beautiful in the eyes of God.
The Candy Cane
A Candymaker in Indiana wanted to make a candy that would
be a witness, so he made the Christmas Candy Cane.
He incorporated several symbols for the birth, ministry,
and death of Jesus Christ.
He began with stick of pure white, hard candy. White to symbolize the
Virgin Birth and the sinless nature of Jesus, and hard to symbolize the Solid
Rock, the foundation of the Church and firmness of the promises of God.
The candymaker made the candy in the form of a "J" to represent the
precious name of Jesus, who came to earth as our Savior. It could also
represent the staff of the " Good Shepherd " with which He reaches down
into the ditches of the world to lift out the fallen lambs who, like all sheep
have gone astray.
Thinking that the candy was somewhat plain, the candymaker stained it
with red stripes. He used three small stripes to show the stripes of
the scourging Jesus received by which we are healed.
The large red stripe was for the blood shed by Christ on the
cross so that we could have the promise of eternal life.
Unfortunately, the candy became known as a Candy Cane -
a meaningless decoration seen at Christmas time.
But the meaning is still there for those who "have eyes to see and ears to hear".
I pray that this symbol will again be used to witness To The Wonder of Jesus
and His Great Love that came down at Christmas and remains the ultimate
and dominant force in the universe today.
The Doll and a White Rose
I hurried into the local department store to grab
some last minute Christmas gifts.
I looked at all the people and grumbled to myself,
I will be in here forever....and I have so much to do.
Christmas was beginning to become such a drag.
I kinda wished that I could just sleep through Christmas.
But I hurried the best I could, through all the people to the toy department.
Once again I kinda mumbled to myself at the prices of all these toys,
and wondered if the grandkids would even play with them.
I found myself in the doll aisle.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw a little boy about 5 holding a lovely doll.
He kept touching her hair and he held her so gently.
I could not seem to help myself.
I just kept looking over at the little boy wondering who the doll was for.
I watched him turn to a woman whom he called by name and said,
"Auntie, are you sure I don't have enough money?"
She replied a bit impatiently, "You know that you don't
have enough money for it."
The Aunt told the little boy not to go anywhere that she had to
go get some other things and would be back in a few minutes.
And then she left the aisle.
The boy continued to hold the doll.
After a bit I ask the boy who the doll was for.
He said, "It's the doll my sister wanted so badly for Christmas.
She just knew that Santa would bring it."
I told him that maybe Santa was going to bring it.
He said "No, Santa can't go where my sister is.
I have to give the doll to my Momma to take to her.
I asked him where his sister was.
He looked at me with the saddest eyes and said
"She has gone to be with Jesus.
My Daddy says that Momma is going to have to go
to be with her."
My heart nearly stopped beating.
Then the boy looked at me again and said,
"I told my Daddy to tell Momma not to go yet.
I told him to tell her to wait till I got back from the store."
Then he asked me if I wanted to see his picture.
I told him I would love to.
He pulled out some pictures he'd had taken at the front of the store.
He said "I want my Momma to take this with her
so she won't ever forget me.
I love my Momma so very much and I wish she did not have to leave me.
But Daddy says she needs to be with my sister."
I saw that the little boy had lowered his head and had grown so very quiet.
While he was not looking I reached into my purse
and pulled out a hand full of bills.
I asked the little boy, "Shall we count that money one more time?"
He grew excited and said, "Yes, I just know it has to be enough."
So I slipped my money in with his and we began to count it.
And of course it was plenty for the doll.
He softly said, "Thank you Jesus, for giving me enough money."
Then the boy said "I just asked Jesus to give me enough money to buy
this doll so Momma can take it with her to give to my sister.
And he heard my prayer.
I wanted to ask him for enough to buy my Momma a white rose,
but I didn't, but he gave me enough to buy the doll and a rose for my Momma.
She loves white roses so very much"
In a few minutes the Aunt came back and I wheeled my cart away.
I could not keep from thinking about the little boy as I finished my
shopping in a totally different spirit than when I had started.
I kept remembering a story I had seen in the newspaper several
days earlier about a drunk driver hitting a car and killing a little girl
and the Mother was in serious condition.
The family was deciding on if they should remove the life support.
Now surely this little boy did not belong with that story.
Two days later I read in the paper where the family had
disconnected the life support and the young woman had died.
I could not forget the little boy and just kept wondering if the two were
somehow connected. Later that day, I could not help myself.
I went out and bought some white roses and took them to the funeral home where the young woman was. And there she was holding a lovely
white rose, the beautiful doll, and the picture of the little boy in the store.
I left there in tears, my life changed forever.
The love that little boy had for his little sister and his mother was overwhelming.
And in a split second a drunk driver had ripped the life of that little boy to pieces.

A CHILD'S ANGEL
Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born.
One day he asked God:
They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am
I going to live there being so small and helpless?
God replied, "Among the many angels, I chose one for you.
She will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
But tell me, said the child, "Here in Heaven, I don't do anything
but sing and smile, that's enough for me to be happy."
Your angel will sing for you, God replied, and she will also
smile for you every day.
And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy.
And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me,
if I don't know the language that men talk?
Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will
ever hear, and with much patience and care,
your angel will teach you how to speak.
And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?
Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.
I've heard that on earth there are bad men. Who will protect me?
Your angel will defend you even if it means risking her life.
But I will be sad because I will not see You anymore.
Your angel will always talk to you about Me and she will teach you the way
for you to come back to me, even though I will always be next to you.
At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from earth could
already be heard, and the child in a hurry asked softly:
Oh God, if I am about to leave now, please tell me my Angel's name.
And, God replied, "Your Angel's name is of no importance,
you will call your Angel ..... Mommy!"
