Barney

A four year old was at the pediatrician for a check up.
As the doctor looked down her ears with an otoscope,
he asked, "Do you think I'll find Big Bird in here?"
The little girl stayed silent. Next, the doctor
took a tongue depressor and looked down her throat.
He asked, "Do you think I'll find the Cookie Monster down there?"
Again, the little girl was silent. Then the doctor
put a stethoscope to her chest. As he listened to her heart beat,
he asked, "Do you think I'll hear Barney in there?"
"Oh, no!" the little girl replied. "Jesus is in my heart.
Barney's on my underpants."

Welcome Family and Friends!
I would like to welcome all the new people (over 1,000 of you)
that joined "Smiles from Kathy" since last month. I am so happy to be
sending you Smiles....and sharing a part of my Heart with all of You!

A special Thank You to all of you that sent me sweet and touching
email this past month. Thank You for sharing a part of your Heart with me.
I do read all Personal Mail....but I am no longer able to respond back to all of
you like I wish I could. I am now getting over 1,000 emails a day which makes
it impossible to write back to each of you. Please believe me when I say that your letters touch my heart and put a smile on my face. You are all very important to me.

I get many letters throughout the month asking me where can you find my
other web pages. So, here is the link to my Home Page where
you will find the links to all my other (25) web pages.
Welcome to My World

I am very sorry that this November issue of Smiles from Kathy
is coming to you so late this month. I have been having major computer
problems for the past three weeks. Also, I was out of web space and had
no room to publish this page. I finally deleted one of my older pages to
make room for this page.

I have a request for you....
When sending me email, PLEASE put the subject matter in your email
as I will usually delete mail that has no subject and I don't want to delete
a personal letter from you.

Many of you write to me asking how my kids are doing. My kids and
grandkids are doing Great! My family has been very busy lately as
two of my daughters are in the process of purchasing a new home.
We are also preparing for the birth of a new grandchild and having the
baby shower this Saturday. We will all be together for Thanksgiving!

I want to wish YOU and Your Family a very
Happy Thanksgiving. May your day be filled with
Love, Laughter, Good Food, and Special Moments!
And, may the Beauty of this Thanksgiving Season touch
your Heart, Renew your Faith, and Refresh your Spirit!

When I say my Thanksgiving Prayer I will thank our
good Lord for my loving Family and for YOU my very
Special Friends!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
God Bless!
Kathy

Of all the blessings in my life,
I count most gratefully my special family and friends
I know and love......

God gave them all to me.
He gave me family and friends for me to love,
Who love me in return,
Good family and friends who never hesitate
To show their warm concern.

And that's why at Thanksgiving I'll say a thankful prayer...
That God will keep my special family and friends
Forever in His care.

Make Each Day of Your Life Happier

Every Day ...
Share a kind word with a friend.
Give away a smile.
Tell one secret.
Listen to what someone has to say.
Listen with your heart
to what someone cannot say.
Try one new thing.
Forgive one person who has hurt you.
Forgive yourself for past mistakes.
Realize your imperfections.
Discover your possibilities.
Make a new friend.
Accept responsibility for everything you do.
Refuse responsibility for anyone else's actions.
Dream one dream.
Watch the sunset.
Cherish what you have.
Cherish who you are.
Love your life.

Love Can Build A Bridge

I'd gladly walk across the desert
With no shoes upon my feet
To share with you the last bite
Of bread I had to eat
I would swim out to save you
In your sea of broken dreams
When all your hopes are sinkin'
Let me show you what love means

Love can build a bridge
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don't you think it's time

I would whisper love so loudly
Every heart could understand
That love and only love
Can join the tribes of man
I would give my hearts desire
So that you might see
The first step is to realize
That it all begins with you and me

When we stand together
It's our finest hour
We can do anything, anything
Anything, anything
Keep believin' in the power

Love can build a bridge
Love and only love
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Love and only love
Don't you think it's time

We Need to Feel More

We need to feel more, to understand others.
We need to love more, to be loved back.
We need to cry more, to cleanse ourselves.
We need to laugh more, to enjoy ourselves.
We need to see more, other than our own little fantasies.
We need to hear more and listen to the needs of others.
We need to give more and take less.
We need to share more and own less.
We need to look more and realize that
We are not so different from one another.
We need to create a world where
All can peacefully live the life they choose.

A Lesson In Heart

A lesson in "heart" is my little, 10 year old daughter, Sarah,
who was born with a muscle missing in her foot
and wears a brace all the time. She came home one beautiful
spring day to tell me she had competed in "field day".
That's where they have lots of races and other competitive events.
Because of her leg support, my mind raced as I tried to think
of encouragement for my Sarah, things I could say to her
about not letting this get her down-but before I
could get a word out, she said, "Daddy, I won two of the races!"
I couldn't believe it! And then Sarah said,
"I had an advantage." Ahh. I knew it.
I thought she must have been given a head start...
some kind of physical advantage. But again, before I could
say anything, she said, "Daddy, I didn't get a head start...
My advantage was I had to try harder!"

Thank you for the world so sweet,
Thank you for the food we eat,
Thank you for the birds that sing,
Thank you, God, for everything.

THINKING OF YOU

This morning as I rose from bed and saw the sun above,
I softly said "Good Morning God, bless everyone I love".
And right away I thought of you and said a loving prayer
That He would bless you especially and keep you free from care.
I thought of all the happiness your day could hold in store;
And wished it all for you, because no one deserves it more.
I felt so warm and good inside, my heart was all aglow
I know God heard my prayer for you,
He hears them all you know.

Wishes for You

May you find serenity and tranquility
in a world you may not always understand.
May the pain you have known
and the conflict you have experienced
give you the strength to walk through life
facing each new situation with courage and optimism.

Always know that there are those
whose love and understanding will always be there,
even when you feel most alone.
May a kind word, a reassuring touch, and a warm smile
be yours every day of your life,
and may you give these gifts as well as receive them.

May the teachings of those you admire
become part of you, so that you may call upon them.
Remember, those whose lives you have touched
and who have touched yours are always a part of you,
even if the encounters were less than you would have wished.
It is the content of the encounter
that is more important than its form.

May you not become too concerned with material matters,
but instead place immeasurable value
on the goodness in your heart.
Find time in each day to see beauty
and love in the world around you.
Realize that what you feel you lack in one regard
you may be more than compensated for in another.
What you feel you lack in the present
may become one of your strengths in the future.

May you see your future
as one filled with promise and possibility.
Learn to view everything as a worthwhile experience.
May you find enough inner strength
to determine your own worth by yourself,
and not be dependent on another's
judgment of your accomplishments.

May you always feel loved.

These Are My Wishes For You.

Who Gets The Wishbone?

If you believe your wish will come true when you win the break in a wishbone contest, then you're following in the footsteps of civilizations dating back to
the Etruscans, 322 B.C. And -- it started with a hen, not a turkey.

In those days, when a man wanted an egg he waited for the hen to announce
the coming of her product. This made the animal mystical in that it could tell
the future -- and that led to what became known as the "hen oracles".

If you lived back then, and wanted to receive an answer to an important question from these oracles, you would draw a circle on the ground and divide it into the twenty-four letters of the alphabet. Grains of corn were placed in each section,
and the cock or hen was led into the circle and then set free. It was believed that the fowl would spell out words or symbols by picking up kernels of corn from the different sections. For example, the first letter of a future husband's name would be the first kernel of corn picked. After writing the message, the fowl was sacrificed to a special deity and its collarbone was hung out to dry.

Then, you'd get to make a wish on the bone. Then two other people got a
chance to make a wish by snapping the dried bone in the same way we do now,
with each one pulling on an end. The person with the larger end of the bone
got the wish -- and it became known as a "lucky break."

The Romans brought the wishbone tradition with them when they
conquered England, and that's how we got it.

(P.S. Who will win the wishbone in your family this Thanksgiving?)
