About Carol & Her Dolls

My dolls are constructed of fimo.  They consist of head and neck piece, shoulder plate, hands and feet.  The hands are individually sculpted complete with fingernails and fold lines.  They can be

posed to hold specific objects, at your request.  The feet are sculpted of fimo or for standing dolls, I use a lead foot that allows the doll to stand on it's own.  The dolls are of wire construction, fully posable.  They are padded with cotton and wrapped with strips of cotton material to form a very realistic body.  The clothes are constructed on the doll to avoid a bulky look and are not removable.  On dolls that have jackets the shirt consists only of a front, collar and cuffs to avoid bulkiness.  I use the finest natural fabrics whenever possible, blends are used on the modern dolls.  I use several hair materials to provide a wide choice of colors and styles.

I have been involved in miniatures since 1980.  I have been selling my dolls since 1988, at miniature shows and by mail order.  I have been an artisan in IGMA (International Guild of Miniature Artisans) for several years and was awarded fellow staus in 1998.  I have been a member of NAME (National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts) since 1988.  My husband, Bill, has artisan status in IGMA (International Guild of Miniature Artisans), in the category of fine arts.  We work together to create artist figures and their paintings.  He also does oil paintings on special order.

I have been doing a lot of portrait dolls the past couple of years.  I have done many famous people past and present.  I also do portrait dolls of customers.

About Bill & His Paintings
I am a self taught artist.  I've been drawing and painting pictures most of my life.  I sold my first drawing at the age of nine.  I had drawn a picture of a hotel in town and they used it as the cover of their menu.  I experimented with all the different mediums but finally settled on painting with oils.
I have painted a great variety of subjects, many of them special orders.  I painted one family farm five times for five members of the family.  They all chose different seasons and flowers, trees and small details each remembered.  I've had paintings accepted and sold at the Minnesota State Fair.  I am just starting to enter competitions with the full size paintings.

My wife, Carol, who does miniature dolls, got me started painting miniature oil paintings to sell with her dolls at miniature shows.  I have now been painting miniatures for over ten years.  I was awarded Artisan status in the International Guild of Miniature Artisans in the category of Fine Arts in October 1996 and in March 2000 was awarded Fellow status.  I belong to the Miniature Art Society of Florida and have had paintings accepted and sold at their shows, also at miniature art shows in Tasmania and Nags Head.

Traveling to the various miniature shows has provided me with a greater variety of subjects to paint.  Each part of our Country has its own unique beauty.  Variety is also provided by the many special orders I do.
