My great grandfather, Robert OAKES (b. 9 Sept 1868; d. 21 Aug 1923), was born in Jersey Shore to Henry OAKES (b. 14 May 1826; d. 15 Oct 1873) and Susanna MILLER (b. 19 Aug 1832; d. 9 Nov 1914). When did they get married? I am looking for the siblings, parents, and grandparents of Henry OAKES, as well as information on their other sons, Franklin OAKES (b. 1866) and Alfred OAKES (b. 1870). I know Susanna MILLER OAKES was buried in Jersey Shore, but I don’t know the location of the grave, nor the graveyard and location of Franklin and Alfred’s graves. Did Henry OAKES die in an accident? I welcome any information on my family line.

My husband is a direct descendant of John Garrison HOLMES (1758-1840) who in 1781 married Mary KNOTT (1759-1849) A recent issue of Now And Then magazine reports that there were two daughters from this marriage, Susannah and Louisa HOLMES who became the 1st and 2nd wives of Peter BUCK died 1854. A son of Peter and Louisa BUCK was W. H. (Harrison) BUCK who married Mary A. ELLSWORTH. Who were the ELLSWORTH'S?
Susannah and Louisa HOLMES had a sister Lydia who married John Clark DUGAN (1791-1851). I am interested in tracing the HOLMES, DUGAN and KNOTT lines. What happened to Benjamin DUGAN, born about 1820, who may have been the oldest child of John Clark DUGAN and Lydia HOLMES (1799-1870)? Benjamin's siblings were Perry DUGAN born 1822 and buried Old Lairdsville Cemetery, Hannah born 1824, Julie born 1826, Ashley 1828-1941, Hiram born 1830, Isabella born 1839, Joseph born 1836, Lydia born 1838, and John Ellis DUGAN born 1845
We think Benjamin DUGAN mentioned above, was the husband of Elizabeth FORSYTH (died 1884) of Unityville and that Julie DUGAN (1846-1923) wife of James Parker BOUDEMAN of Unityville was the only child of Benjamin and Elizabeth. Need proof. Thank you.
