1998 Lady Govs Profiles

Emily Anthony  -  Graduate Student

Adams, TN -  Jo Byrns High

Athletically...

Emily is a two-sport wonder that Coach (unfortunately) didn't find until her junior year. She was discovered from the Lady Govs Volleyball team where Coach molded her into a high jumper. After that, her snuck her onto the DMR (400m leg), and since then, she has taken on a number of new challenges  (4x100, 4x400, 400m open, 100m, 200m) and succeeded in each of them, especially the 400. Already this season, Emily has shaved her 400m time down to 58.3 and figures to be a factor in the OVC Championships. With a best of 5'02.75", she will also be counted on to score points in the high jump...Combining her successes from four years of volleyball with her recent achievements in track, and excellence in the classroom, Emily was named in the fall to the GTE Academic All-American team.

More Personally...

Emily (born January 2, 1975) graduated in December with a double major in chemistry and biology and has stuck around another semester to work on her master's degree.  In the meantime, she has earned a teaching assistantship in APSU's Department of Biology. When time allows, Emily likes traveling, reading and watching sports. For her part-time job, "Em" works at "The Limited". Carrer interests include pharmaceutical research.

Emily on Elvis: "I want to thank Coach Forde for giving me the opportunity to run & jump his APSU team. Even though I had no previous experience in track and field, he took me in and worked with me...and for that, I am grateful."
