OK, So Lets Talk Fishing
Want to catch a """REALLY BIG FISH""". Come experience my premier Columbia River Fishery for OVERSIZE (catch and release) Sturgeon. These monsters can exceed 9 feet (FEET) long and weigh in excess of 500 lbs. Wouldn't you like to exerience having a quarter ton of wild and crazy fish surging and even jumping on the end of your line. Your arms will thank you when it's over....but the pictures as you release the monster will remind you AND OTHERS of what "could have got away.....but didn't!!!
During early spring and again in mid-summer keeper size Sturgeon are common catches and often add a bonus to your potential monster catch stories. Sturgeon is some of the finest fresh and smoked table fare around, and regulations allow you to keep one (subject to state and federal regulations in effect at the time of your trip) in the premium eating size....between 42 and 60 inches. A fish of 60 inches can weigh as much as FIFTY pounds.
Late spring and summer brings excellent Walleye fishing to the mid-lower Columbia River. For those who prefer the #1 quality of Trophy Walleye fishing......they will certainly find their dream here. The Columbia River is quickly developing a reputation for some of the best Walleye fishing in the country for consistent catches of large Walleye. Many experts expect the next record Walleye to come from somewhere in the Columbia River Basin. " I think it will be somewhere close to my boat!"
Late Summer and Fall bring in some unique and enjoyable Salmon and Steelhead experiences on the Columbia in the Portland Metro Area. Beginning in July, steelhead fishing is quickly combined with the up-river bright Chinook Salmon fishery. 2000 and 2001 were both banner years for this fishery. As this fishery fades in September, focus moves to the Tillamook and Nehalem area estuaries and open ocean waters for some of the best premier Trophy Chinook Salmon fishing on the Oregon Coast. Salmon of 30-40 lbs are common, 50 pounders are not rare and even a few 60 pounders are recorded each year in this area. Why not try for your Salmon of a lifetime....right here in our own Oregon backyard!
December through early February, you can try you hand at locking onto a legendary Steelhead on local area streams (Sandy River and Clackamas River) or Tillamook area streams.
