Talmud Torah means Torah study. Torah knowledge is the foundation for living a truly Jewish life and is one of the most basic responsibilities of a Jew. A sincere Jew cannot allow Torah study fall to the wayside. Unfortunately, the majority of Jews are completely uninformed about many of the most basic ideas and concepts in Judaism. Frequently, people who wish to increase their knowledge don't even know how to start.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to teach Jewish children. In the process of teaching I have frequently written up review sheets dealing with a concept or a mitzvah (commandment) which the class had been studying. Once written, I felt that many others would also gain by having them available so I began posting them on this website. That is how this site began. However, since that time I have also written a number of items for the website alone. It is my hope that people will find the information on this site interesting enough to inspire them to learn more on their own.
ImportantPlease note that, while I have done my best to make sure that all the information in this site is accurate, I am not a rabbi. The information in this site cannot be relied upon as comprehensive or definitive, it is merely descriptive. Furthermore, in several cases I have left out large amounts of detail for the sake of brevity. For practical information on Jewish law one should consult with an Orthodox rabbi. |
