There are many great beaches just minutes from the hotel, and Rincon Beach, where the World Surfing Championship was held in 1968, is less than a half-hour drive. Local surf shops can outfit you in the latest surfer gear, or for a more sedate outing, try snorkling.

El Yunque, Puerto Rico's fascinating tropical rain forest, is home to a diverse population of animals. The coqui (ko-kee) is a tree frog, found only in Puerto Rico. These tiny frogs add their musical call, "Coqui! Coqui!!" to the sounds of the island. El Yunque is only two hours from La Cima Hotel, and it makes a great day trip.
