    Leithauser Research creates quality shareware for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP/Vista , which can be downloaded directly from this site. You can download a self extracting archive containing all the files necessary to install the program by clicking on the archive name on this page. In many cases, you can view a more detailed description of the program and also see additional download options by clicking on the "Click Here" link at the end of the description on this page.
    The software programs on this page fall into three basic categories: Computer security, business and personal productivity, and recreational and educational. If you are interested in a particular field, please go directly to that area below.
    You may try these programs for a period of one or two months (depending on the program) without paying for them. If, at the end of the trial period, you decide that you wish to continue using the program, simply fill out the registration form that the package will print for you and send the form along with the registration fee to the address given on the form. Shareware Programs for Computer Security and access control

Clock Guard (CGARC.EXE) - A Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP/NT/Vista computer security program that prevents you from changing the computer clock without a password. For more information, click here.

Internet Password Lock (IPLARC.EXE) - A Windows 2000/XP/Vista (does not work on 95/98/Me/NT) Internet security program that can block Internet access (Web, email, Instant Messaging, etc.). You can block Internet access entirely by disabling the computer’s IP address, or you can restrict Internet access by disabling specific programs such as Web Browsers, email programs, and Instant Messaging programs. Useful for parents to protect their children by controlling their Internet access and business to control Internet use. For more information, click here.

Web Site Zapper (WSZARC.EXE) - A Windows  95/98/2000/ME/XP/Vista (does not work on NT) Internet security program that allows you to control Web access. Web Site Zapper closes down Web browsers that are showing undesirable sites. You can either create a list of undesirable sites (including broad descriptions like any site containing "gambling" in the title or URL) or create a list of allowed sites (like your business sites). Useful in business to prevent employees from surfing the Web on company time and at home to protect children from hazardous sites. For more information, click here.

Software Time Lock - Allows you to block access to the Web, individual programs, or the entire computer during selected time periods for each day of the week. Also allows you to control for how long the Internet, individual programs, or the computer itself can be used in total for each day of the week. You can use this program to protect children from misuse of the computer, or for security in a business to prevent unauthorized use of the computer outside of business hours. Settings Lock (slarc.exe) is a software program for Windows computers that allows you to password protect 14 Windows settings and functions. These settings are: The computer clock time and date, System Restore, Video display properties, such as wallpaper and screen saver (called Display Personalization in Vista), Internet Options, Add/Remove Programs (called Programs and Features in Vista), User Accounts, Windows Security Center, System Properties, Add Hardware Wizard, Network Connects and Setup Wizard (called Network and Sharing Center in Vista), Properties of individual files (such as read-only), Task Manager, Windows Explorer and My Computer folder options. Hide-A-File - Computer security program. Allows you to hide files and entire folders (with all the files and folders contained within the folder) so that only you can access your files and folders. Works on Windows 98/NT/2000/ME/XP. For more information, click here.

Drive Blocker - Computer security program. Disables and blocks access to removable drives, such as flash drives, and removable media, such as CD’s or floppies. Prevent theft of sensitive company data and installation of unauthorized software on company computers. Reduces virus infections.  For more information, click here.

Computer Rental Controller - Computer access control program, that allows you to easily rent or sell computer time on your computer. This program generates a list of passwords, each of allow access to the computer for a period of time selected by you. You can then sell these passwords. You can also generate a set of passwords that all unlimited access time, and have Computer Rental Controller keep track of how long each password is used. You can then bill the users on a regular basis for their computer use. Set up your own Internet Café or computer kiosk, or use it to control how much time your children can use the computer. Computer Payment Enforcer is a computer program that helps you to collect payments for computers that you have sold on credit or are renting out. Installed on a computer you are selling or leasing, it will lock down the computer when payments are overdue. Program Selector Pro - A computer security  access control program that replaces Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP interface (icons, start menu) with a more secure and convenient user configurable pick list of program names. Each program can be password protected, as can access to Windows itself. Modification of the pick list (adding or removing programs) is also password protected. Allows restrictions on which programs people use. Useful in home or business to control computer use. Program Sentry - Computer security  program. This is a less intrusive (although somewhat less thorough) alternative to Program Selector Pro. It allows you to either create a list of prohibited programs or a list of allowed programs. Any program that is on the prohibited list or is not on the allowed list is blocked from running. Each program can also be password protected to allow you to unblock the program. Provides access control and usage management for your computer. Allows restrictions on which programs people use. Useful in home or business to control computer use. Work on Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP. Does not work on Windows NT.  For more information, click here.

Web Surfer Watcher (WSWARC.EXE) -  A Windows  Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP (does not work on NT computers) Internet security program that allows you to monitor what Web sites are being viewed on your computer. Useful in business to monitor what Web sites employees are visiting on company time and at home to protect children from hazardous sites. For more information, click here.

Computer Use Reporter (CURARC.EXE) - Find out what your employees or children are doing on the computer. Computer Use Reporter convertly monitors what programs are used on the computer, what files or Web sites these programs access, when they are accessed, and which user is on the computer at the time. AutoBackup - (AUBUARC.EXE) - allows you to easily back up critical files. It is particularly useful if you have a specific set of files you need to back up frequently. It is also useful if you simply want to routinely copy certain files to a floppy for transport to another computer. You can input a specific list of files that you want to back up. This list can also include general file masks, such as C:\My Documents\*.* (all files in the "My Documents" folder), when you want to backup up an entire group of files. Once you have selected this list of files and/or file masks, you can easily make backup copies of all these files at the click of a mouse button. You can even tell AutoBackup to automatically back up all your critical files when you exit Windows. Although AutoBackup is particularly useful if you have a specific group of files that need to be backed up regularly, it can also be used as a general backup program. What Changed (WHCHARC.EXE) - a combination disk backup and system monitoring utility for Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP. It enables you to take a "snapshot" or record of the contents of your hard disks and compare them to your hard disk files in the future. You can automatically back up any files that have changed or been added to your hard disks. Disk Change Monitor (DCMARC.EXE) - A hard disk monitoring utility for Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP. It automatically records changes in your hard disk files. You can automatically back up any files that have changed or been added to your hard disks. You can also find any changes that might account for any problems you have developed with your system, such as corrupted or missing files. It also allows you to monitor the use of your computer in various ways, including what Web sites have been visited recently and what hours yor computer was turned on. This program has a lot of uses. File Guardian (FGARC.EXE) - A computer security program that protects your files from being changed. File Guardian allows you to specify a list of files you want monitored and how often you want File Guardian to check these files. If File Guardian finds that one of these files has been changed when it performs this check, it will automatically restore the file to original condition. It is particularly useful on Web servers to protect your Web site from being infected with viruses or from being vandalized. It can be used in other applications where you do not want files changed. Complete Program Deleter for Windows (version 4.0) - (WCPDARC.EXE) - A program uninstaller that makes it easy to remove a program from your hard disk if you decide you do not like it. Fast Form Filler (FFFARC.EXE) - Save time filling out forms. Store names, addresses, passwords, and other phrases in the Fast Form Filler database. To input one of these phrases into a Web site or document,  just click on one of these phrases from the list displayed on the main Fast Form Filler screen and then on a Web page text box or program input to instantly input the phrase. Date Calculator (DATECARC.EXE) - performs a variety of calendar related functions useful in business. It will display a calendar for any month of any year. It will calculate the number of days between any two dates, optionally only counting certain days of the week, such as Monday through Friday. It can automatically calculate total cost of any operation based on cost per day of those days. It can also calculate the date a certain number of days before or after a given date, again optionally only counting certain user selected days of the week. For more information, click here.

Multiple Form Filler (MFFARC.EXE) - Multiple Form Filler is a Windows software program that allows you to easily fill out multiple document forms and spreadsheets with the same information. Draw-On-Screen (dosarc.exe) - A simple and easy program that lets you draw on the computer screen with the mouse. This program is useful for people who give presentations by projecting the computer screen for the audience, or just for fun. Information Retriever (IRARC.EXE) - A simple and easy solution to information retrieval. This program lets you store pieces of data (which can be anything) along with a handle for each one. You can retrieve the data by typing any portion (even a few characters) of the handle. Countdown Clock (CCARC.EXE) is a Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP computer software program that displays a continuous countdown in years, days, hours, minutes and seconds to any event of your choosing. It comes with several built in events, but you can create your own custom events. It also allows you to customize the display colors and font size, and can dock itself to the top of your screen.
