Welcome to the
TOP-NOTCH QUARTET
Home Page
- for Top-Notch entertainment -
Top-Notch is an up and coming barbershop quartet that promises lots of "audience appeal and high quality show entertainment." So recommends the membership of the four-time International Chorus Champs, Masters of Harmony, their home chapter. Top-Notch is a "sure bet" to be heard often!
Dan, Les, Larry, & Art

Art Taylor (tenor) recently celebrated his 40th year in the Barbershop Society. Art started his barbershop career in the Pittsfield, Mass. Chapter in 1961. He joined Phoenix in 1969 and has earned 2 Chorus gold medals with Phoenix and another 4 with the Masters of Harmony. Art has always been a "quartet man" having sung with "Nostalgia" in Phoenix and Senior District Champs, "Mutual Fun" here in the Los Angeles area.

Larry Goodfried (lead) has a varied musical background. He's a piano player, a trumpet player and fancies himself as an excellent saloon singer. Larry helped found the Los Angeles Chapter of the Barbershop Society back in the '80's and is currently a member of the Masters of Harmony, as are the other members of this top-notch Senior Quartet. Larry is a true "Music Man." You may have seen him in recent performances of that favorite Barbershop Show!
Les Weiser (bari) started his singing career at age 5 in Asheville, North Carolina. Les can't remember when he wasn't singing in a chorus, glee club or barbershop quartet. As leader of his own band, "The Entertainers", for over 25 years, Les played sax, guitar at venues all over the West. In 1991 Les and Art Taylor formed ½ of "Mutual Fun", 2000 Second Place International Senior Champs and 2001 Far Western District Senior Champs. Dan Place (bass), is yet another 30 plus year barbershopper. The wall in his den is covered with photos of his quartet and chorus achievements. As a founding member of the Arcadia chapter and a four-time gold medal winner with the Masters of Harmony, Dan does a super job of handling those low notes. It's often said that "they swoon for the tenor but they go home with the bass."
SPEBSQSA Though "Top-Notch" is weighted down with barbershop gold, they're a light-hearted foursome who will delight you when you invite them to your next event. As a featured act on your show, or as a bit of excitement at a private party or convention, you can expect Top-Notch entertainment.
