Dedicated to Lib - one of a kind

Miss Liberty, M.E. (Mutt Extraordinaire) is practising The Ultimate Style - "Whizzin' in the Clouds" - these days. A friend asked to honor her memory by naming his new mutt Miss Liberty II at almost the same time an "I've got a Libby too" note arrived (Lady Liberator).

Miss Liberty, M.E. (Mutt Extraordinaire): Came to Earth April'86 - Won her wings Feb. '99. Her message: "I whole-heartedly approve of this idea, even if it wasn't mine. Thanks DB for the honor and Dan for the coincidence. The Statue of Liberty was in restoration when I was born, that's half the reason for my name. The other was my talent for escape. I wasn't much more than a handfull to begin with and I was fast. Door or gate open, you could count me gone. I couldn't go far, we lived at the closed end of a cul-de-sac surrounded by a canal. I had a little trip to the Gulf planned when I jumped into the canal at low tide - Lib testing the dock. After you-know-who pulled me out with a fishing net, she decided to have that dang fence installed.** Oh well, 'It was for my own good.'"

"My full name is Lady Liberator and I was named after the W.W.II B-24 Liberator Bomber. I am the Rottweiler mascot for B-24 Best Web at B-24 Best Web - LADY LIBERATOR 'Libby' where you may view some of my other images. (I don't always look this goofy!)" Libby (the Libster)

This Miss Liberty is a white boxer with one blue eye, born Jan. '97. She lives with and terrorizes two Boston terriers and a pug. She is exuberant and sweet at the same time and always a little goofy.

All the dogs in the family history were named according to an American Revolutionary War theme: Rebel (boxer), Tory (boxer), Patriot (Boston terrier), Musket (Boston), Independence (Indy) (pug), Revolution (Lucy) (Boston) and Abigail Adams (bulldog).***

"God sat down for a moment when the dog
was finished in order to watch it, and to know
that it was good, that nothing was lacking, that
it could not have been made better."
Rainer Maria Rilke - contributed by Anne, a human member of the family.

Pappa finally caught Miss Liberty II at rest. She has quite a life supervising the various divisions of Bandillo Enterprises, including Hotdog Express Publishing, in the Southwestern Texas desert. Even though she's half Coyote, she said "It's a dog's life."

Good old Libby, fresh from the smelly pond after a hard day's hunt.

"When she had moved all of the firewood to the center of the yard, Libby plopped down in a pile of leaves, rolled around in a happy dog roll and then fell sound asleep amid the chirping birds and the howling chainsaw." From Retrieving Labrador Days.

Libby was my best buddy, a Labrador retriever who passed away the year of the 20 snow storms in North Jersey. We got her in January 1979. She was a Valentine's present, thus the AKC name Abie's Libby Valentine. Of course we had to call Libby the Labrador three times, just like in the commercial, Libby! Libby! Libby!

"(Anthony) Buccino writes little books that come from the heart -- about remembrances of bygone school days, summer peaches and tomato gardens..." Sam Meddis, USA Today, 10/14/98 (See complete index of articles to read now Anthony's World - Essays on Human Nature)

*Just a quickie: Lib appeared at public functions Sun and Sand as often as possible. During one "friendliest" contest, the participants wore costumes provided by a sponsor. Lib got stuck with a really dumb duck Duck Hat. She hated it. She won the contest tho (who else?) - her prize: another hat!

Ok, one more quickie: She was once presented with a plaque (see Dog's Eye Thanks middle of the page) in honor of her Intrepreting the Wagging Tail (all wags aren't happy, glad to meet ya') speech during a Dogs' Day in the Park event.

Ok, ok this is the last quickie: She won Best in "Movement" in a real live show, up against a bunch of right ritzy pedigreed types. We thought it was just another fun thing - had no clue what we were doing - we were entered already - what the h ...
