THE LION’S PLEDGE

Here at Tails of the Cowardly Lion and Friends, it is our goal to provide you, our cherished customers, with the finest-quality new Oz books on the market today. We do this out of love for Oz. We do not make a profit. For us, it is profit enough to know that we are keeping our readers happy. And, to be perfectly honest, it’s a lot of fun for us, too.

You will not be seeing things like A Barnstormer in Oz or Oz Squad from us. All of our books are family-friendly and in sync with the Famous Forty as started by L. Frank Baum. There is no excessive violence and certainly no so-called “adult” content. For some simple guidelines toward writing an acceptable Oz book, see Protection from Rejection.

Our books will always be as faithful to the existing series as possible, though the existing series is not without its contradictions.

We will attempt to offer mostly full-length novels, though some shorter stories will also appear. I do not want this to discourage a possible new author. Mr. Baum’s average was around 30,000 words. Most, but not all, of the books in our current backlog greatly exceed that. But if your story is a shorter one, please do not add any unnecessary padding to make it look longer.

Anyone who has aspirations toward writing or illustrating an Oz book is welcome to join our happy little family. We are always looking for new talent.
