Rev. William PATTON (ca 1796-1856) was born in Montgomery Co, VA to Henry Thomas PATTON, Jr. and Elizabeth HICKMAN. William PATTON married Ann FERGUS in Montgomery Co, VA in 1815. William PATTON was a Methodist Episcopal minister in the Abingdon, VA area and then migrated west to Missouri where he was a minister and a missionary to the Indians. He died in 1856 in Platte Co, MO. His children: Louisiana Patton, b. Aug 27, 1816 in Montgomery Co. VA,d. Searching for information or someone researching William Patton married to Mary J. (Davis) Patton on 9 Sept. 1852 in Rutledge,Grainger Co. TN. 2 children that I know of, Joseph Patton b. 1870 Hawkins Co.TN, and his brother John Jack Patton b. 1872 Hawkins Co.TN My grandfather and great Uncle respectively. Patton was a Rear Admiral in the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey and commanded the USC&GS steamer Explorer in 1914 and made surveys of Prince William Sound, Alaska. In 1915 he was appointed chief of the Coast Pilot Section in the Washington D.C. office, and during WWI he served as a Lieutenant and Lieutenant Commander in the Navy. He served as a member of the U.S. Geographical Board from Dec. 1926 to June 1934. Rear Adm. Patton was
