General ideas to set the tone

Classroom notebook

1. A student will be assigned each class to make a copy of his/her notes for absent students to include in this notebook.
2. All handouts given in class will be included with the names of absent students written on them.
3. Any student who is absent should check the folder and complete any missed work in the normal time frame.
4. This notebook will not leave the classroom at any time.
5. After looking at the notebook, if the student has questions they should be addressed to me. However I will not answer any questions unless the student has looked through the notebook first.

Seating Charts

One great idea to help get your students organized on the first day is to put your seating chart on the overhead. This way you can greet the students at the door and they can organize themselves with the minimum waste of time.
