To honor the American worker

and give some praise that's due,

A holiday was thus proclaimed

in 1882.


This gives a 3-day weekend

for one last Summer fling,

Before the weather changes

and Fall is in full swing.


A perfect time for picnics

or a short and scenic cruise,

A visit to Aunt Fibi's

or just a mid-day snooze!
