This this picture was taken at the 1997 NYCAN Convention in Rochester, NY.
I live on the south shore of Lake Ontario outside the small town of Hilton, NY. I am married to Jodie and have two grown children; my son, Jason and daughter, Mandy.
I started in magic when I was 22 years old. My wife to be and I had attended a party and our host had shown us some card tricks. I was intrigued and asked him where he had learned to do them. He told us of his trip to the Houdini Museum in Niagara Falls, Canada. The following weekend we visited the museum and the magic shop. I bought a "four-pack" of trick decks. My favorite one was "The Invisible Deck" which I still do whenever I perform. That was all it took to get me hooked!
In late 1975 Jodie and I opened "Jodan's World of Magic" in a small mall in Rochester, NY. We only stayed in business for 8 months but I learned a lot and met many of the local magicians in Rochester. By the way, "Jodan" is my stage name, being a combination of Jodie's and my name. During the magic shop time, I was doing a lot of platform shows. Birthday parties, church groups, Boy Scouts, etc. I still enjoy those types of shows but have learned to really love close-up magic.
I am an active member of the local S.A.M. group, being the club's president twice, since 1976. I joined the local I.B.M ring in 1987. I am the former General Chairman of the Upstate MagicFest and held that position for 12 years.
