Something New For You

While visiting my daughter in Chicago, I had the opportunity to visit Magic, Inc.  Fortunately the shop is only about 5 miles from my daughter's place as Chicago is a hellacious place to drive around in!!  :)  I was warmly greeted by Sandy Marshall (Jay's son), his wife, Susan and one of their sales people, Terrence.   After some general magic chat, Sandy showed my some of the new effects that Magic, Inc. is producing.  Since I'm a big card fan, I immediately bought his two newest effects.  "Pedro's Green Card" and "Marshall's Ten Card Trick".   Both were easy to learn, easy to do and very impressive.

I also added a new trick to my collection of brass pieces.  When I got back to my daughters apartment, I realized there was a piece missing from the package.   I called the shop and spoke to Terrence and asked him to mail it to me as we were leaving for home the next day and we didn't have time to go back to the shop.  Later that evening I received a voice message from Susan Marshall offering to bring the missing piece to my daughter's place but by the time I actually listened to the message we were on our way home to Rochester.  Two days later the missing piece arrived at my home via Priority Mail.  Now that is customer service as it should be!

Many thanks to Sandy, Susan and Terrence for making our visit to Magic, Inc. an enjoyable one!

If you ever get to the Chicago area, be sure to visit them.  Also visit their new website and check out the new effects they are offering.

Dear fellow magicians,

I’m the creator and webmaster of The Magician Directory (www.magician-directory.com). It’s a world wide guide and directory of magicians.

This is a non profit website that I make no money out of whatsoever.  I run it as a hobby and even pay to advertise at the moment out of my own pocket until it becomes better known.

It’s a fairly new site so only has about 100 magicians at the moment, but hopefully it will become the largest definitive resource of magicians in the world.

So may I please ask you to donate a few minutes of your time to register your details on the site in the area of your choice?  It is absolutely free and all I ask is that if you would like to support the site and make it more popular, then add a link back to it from your website if you have one.  Eventually this will become compulsive, but as it’s still fairly new, you do not have to do this.

If you do not have the time or resources to do this, then I will gladly enter your details for you taking the information and a picture from your website with your permission, just email back saying it’s ok to do.  (I do not wish to infringe on anyone’s copyrighted material).

Entering your information on the site will help promote both you and your website for the cost of just a few minutes.

Many thanks and kind regards

David

Custom Made Card Boxes

by Elliot Evans

Recently found a web site where you can design templates to create custom card boxes.  The web site contains templates for poker and bridge sized cards and you can select from several deck thicknesses.  There are also two templates for odd, unusual sizes.  Finally, there is a link to a site where you can enter the dimensions of your cards, the thickness of the deck and any copy that you wanted printed on the box! The resulting template will have the copy on the two box faces, the two edges and the top of the box. The template  created is in PDF format, which you can save to your hard drive. You then print the template onto card stock, cut and fold on the lines, and Voila, you have a custom made box.  VERY COOL!  The web site owner encourages us to share this information.  Check the rest of his site for some other interesting material.  By the way, he is NOT a magician.
