United Jewish Cemeteries

Beautification and Memorialization Programs

Mayfield Cemetery is highly regarded as one of the finest garden style cemeteries in the Northeast Ohio area and one of few garden style cemeteries serving the local Jewish community. The Board of Governors of the United Jewish Cemeteries is committed not only to preserving but also to enhancing the beauty of the grounds of Mayfield Cemetery. To that end, the Board welcomes donations to the cemetery in the form of plantings as well as monetary contributions. Families with unoccupied sites may convert their burial sites to locations for permanent plantings. Depending upon the size of the site, these may be designed to include memorial plaques, benches and other features. Families may also purchase areas specifically intended for use as memorial sites. Price and features vary with size and desires of the family.

The Bernon Garden Fund, established by Richard and Shirley Bernon, is maintained to generate and provide funds for the beautification of the cemetery grounds. This fund serves as a rich legacy to the many years of service Richard Bernon made as a member of the cemetery Board of Governors. Contributions to this fund are a wonderful way in which to honor and memorialize family members and loved ones.

Families interested in assisting the cemetery in its beautification and memorialization programs through donations, plantings and volunteerism are asked to contact the cemetery office at 321-1733. As an IRS defined 501(c)(3) tax exempt entity, all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
