Melrose Place
Episode #98 / Season #4
Title: "Post Mortem Madness" (Season Premiere)
Original Air Date: September 11, 1995Synopsis
1. Kimberly presses that little red button. Oh-oh.
2. Boom! Kimberly blown into the pool.
3. Boom! Alison flies across her room. Amazingly enough, her vodka breath doesn't ignite blowing out her lungs!
4. Boom! A couple other bodies fly around. Little fireballs are scattered about the courtyard.
5. Billy runs into flaming apartment of Alison and somehow pulls her out to safety.
6. "Oh my God!" is echoed by practically ever actor in the complex. Guess they didn't know WHO was supposed to say that line!
7. Dr. Michael helps Amanda out. Syd wanders out on her own, followed by Jo and others. Firemen arrive and start directing traffic.
8. Dr. Peter, through the smoke, sees Kimberly floating face down in the pool so he dives in and rescues her. Starts breast massage. One of the paramedics sees this and steps in, saying, "Here, let me."10. Victims: Jane-OK, Hart's wife, Mackenzie-DOA (heart failure), Billy-burns on his elbows (why?), Jo-vertical cuts on her eyebrow and lip, Amanda-broken high heel, Brooke-OK, Dr. Peter-OK, Sydney-new hairdo, Michael-OK, Alison-multiple facial cuts and some kind of eye damage.
11. Michael invites everybody over to his beach house for some R&R. Well, specifically, all the vixens--Amanda, Syd, Jo.
12. Matt Fielding, new jail bait, calls his parents for help. They can't believe what has become of him. First, their son turns gay, and now he's a murderer. What next? A republican?
13. Brooke's father is P.O.'d that his little girl and her new husband got caught up in the whole mess. He wants them out and on their honeymoon NOW. But of course, Billy has to stay and make sure his friends are all OK.
14. Alison is wearing full head bandages. As the doctor unwraps her mummy face, he explains that she might have some upcoming problems. "Please remove the bandages," she requests. "But they are removed!" exclaims the doctor. "Then you mean I have bilateral vitreous hemorrhages!?!" she wonders. "Well," says the doctor, "I don't know but I think you're blind! It's possible that after your blood squirts around your body for awhile that you may be able to see again. I wouldn't worry about it. I don't know how many episodes it may take." "Then you're not much good are you, doc!" she bitches. Same 'ole Alison.
15. Dr. Peter visits Kimberly in the hospital psycho ward. He agrees to help the attending doctor. Kimberly is sitting in her bed but wonders why she's wearing a straight jacket. Peter says he's on her side and plans to help her, but she needs help. She doesn't accept the fact that she blew up Melrose Place and killed a woman in the process. "I think it was an accident!" She begins to think that Peter and Michael are teaming up to put her away. Then she freaks out and Peter has to slip out as she goes berserk.
16. Jane is staying at Richard's (her boss) place. Jane is totally into business, trying to figure out how to keep Mackenzie's image and work alive despite her death. He can't believe she's so callous. But he doesn't realize what a fool she's been in the past and that she's finally learned her lesson.
17. Matt is visited by his mom and a criminal attorney, Lisa Barnett. Matt's father, however, failed to show up. This upsets Matt. "It's because I'm gay, isn't it?" (Is he overly sensitive, or what?!?!?!) "I didn't kill anybody, mom!!" he exclaims. "Yeah, whatever" she replies. The attorney grabs the phone and tells him to calm down and don't have a hissy fit. "So what if I'm a FRUIT. At least I smell good." Matt gets so mad that he tells them to get lost.
18. Jane visits Alison in the hospital. She can't see but she can smell all the flowers that everybody's been sending. Alison asks Jane if she got hurt, but Jane doesn't even have a scratch on her. Oh well, some people have all the breaks. Billy pops in, but Alison keeps him out for a minute and asks Jane to keep the fact that she might get her eyesight back soon a secret. Then she lets Billy in, and milks her blindness for all it's worth, telling Billy that she can't see and that the doctors don't know why (Even though they do.) She says not to worry about her but to return to Brooke and go do, the voodoo, that he do, so well. Despite this, Billy admits that he cares about her before he leaves. Well played, Alison!
19. Back at the ranch (the apt), Amanda and an insurance estimator are summing up the damage. Jake arrives, and decides to move back even though his place smells like a burnt charcoal briquette. Jo pops out of the bushes and asks what happened between him and Jess. She demands to know, claiming she was a part of the weird sexual triangle. But Jake doesn't buy it and tells her to bug off. All she ever cares about is herself. Then he proceeds into his apartment and sits on a pile of ashes that used to be his couch.
20. Matt meets with his attorney. She is good, so he decides to use her. She tells him that witnesses have said that he and Paul (his lover) seemed friendly up until the day he presumably murdered Paul's wife which seems to rule out the stalking theory that Paul claims, but now the police have come up with an alternative theory, i.e., that Matt and Paul conspired to murder Paul's wife. Matt's bail hearing is later that day, and he promises that if he gets out on bail, he'll prove that he's not a murderer.
21. Back at the hospital, Alison is laying around wearing sunglasses which looked like they were borrowed from one of the 3 blind mice. Her other senses are becoming more acute, and she even recognizes Amanda's voice as she enters the room! Amanda tries to reconcile their differences, but Alison rebuffs. After all, Amanda squeezed her out of her position at D&D, even though the position turned Alison into such a bitch. Amanda brought roses, but they pale in comparison to the arrangement sent by Billy. Amanda reads the card. "No matter what happens in our lives, I'll always be there for you. Love, Billy. Sweet, see, he still cares about you. And I don't care what you think, so do I." Then Alison counters, "That's the problem. You and Billy don't really care what other's think, but are too busy washing others down with your guilt." Combining this and #17 above naturally leads to a song, below.
Blind Alison (sung to the tune of "3 Blind Mice")
Blind Alison
See how she lies
She makes Amanda feel guilty as hell
Poor Billy sends roses and hopes she'll get well
Jane knows her secret but swore not to tell
Blind Alison
(If you attended a Melrose Monday party you could have sung this in a round!)
22. Michael visits Kimberly's doctor, and tries to get her shipped to a county psycho ward. But then Peter enters the scene and blocks the attempted move. Peter says that he will cover all of Kimberly's expenses after insurance since Michael is so cheap, only asking that Michael keeps away and leaves her alone. Michael questions Peter's motives, but Peter tells Michael not to concern himself with Peter's motives. Works for him.
23. At Matt's court hearing, although Matt seems like a good guy, the nature of the crime forces the judge to set bail at $1.2 million!! The lawyer smiles, and says, "Do you take cash?" Matt is speechless. Turns out that his parents mortgaged their home to get the bail money. Oh, they do care after all.
24. At the mausoleum, Richard and Jane pay their respects to Mackenzie. Jane then starts talking about how they can get back to work to make Mackenzie's name more famous than ever. Richard can't believe she won't even allow him a minute to mourn the death of his wife. She responds by saying that all she wants to do is make him happy. "Keep your clothes on, Jane!" (Good line, Richard!)
25. Matt, now out on bail, goes to his parents' house and engage in a Hallmark moment. So sweet you could get a cavity just watching!! Emmy material for next year's awards.
26. Billy decides to postpone the honeymoon INDEFINITELY. Brooke's father butts in again (he's starting to get a little irritating.) For once, Billy sticks by his guns and tells her father that he'll NEVER EVER be bossed around like that. Billy leaves their estate and moves back in to toasted apartment at Melrose Place. As the song goes, "Turn out the lights, the party's over..." But wait--soon thereafter, Brooke shows up at his front door, and the two of them engage in various acts of pleasure too steamy to be shown even on the Fox network.
27. At Jess' funeral, only Jake is there. Jo stops by at the end of the service. She says she's there for Jake, but he quips that she's really there for Jess. Serious drama.
28. Syd finally pops in, and has to shack up with Amanda in Syd's apartment. Seems that Amanda's unit was destroyed so she's already moved into Syd's place.
29. Back at the nut house, Dr. Peter visits Kimberly again. Kimberly has been trying to reconstruct what had happened over the past few days. But she still can't remember the explosion. All she remembers is that Peter saved her life. She is soooo happy about that. She does remember starting to fall for Peter the week before. Guess she doesn't remember him dis'ing her. After all, she thinks she's a good person. Yeah, right.
