- [Melrose Place, morning]
- Same worker bees milling about the courtyard, but it's amazing how much better the place looks only 2 days after the previous episode! Billy is over at Alison's, and they're sharing a cup of coffee. Always the observant one, Billy comments that she's not wearing her glasses anymore. Alison admits, "When you're blind, things like putting on glasses becomes much more difficult than one thinks. But as a consolation, your remaining senses become more acute." Unfortunately for Alison, her sense of touch wasn't one of those senses, witnessed by the way she mis-buttoned her blouse. Billy volunteers to help, and unbuttons her top as Alison does all she can to keep from moaning in ecstasy. As Billy begins to slip each piece of ivory-colored plastic back through its corresponding hole, he notices that Alison is wearing her panties where her bra ought to be. He refrains from saying anything, but wonders to himself, "Hmmm, hopefully at least her sense of smell got better." The two of them are discussing the party for a client that is scheduled for that evening, a function that Alison was responsible for organizing. Billy insists that she go, even if it means he has to buy her a white cane to find her way. As he's tucking her blouse into the folds of her rayon skirt, Brooke "trickles" in, catching the two in a moment of silent conversation. As she tries to reel in her hubby, yet another D&D executive pops in -- this time it's Amanda. Billy can't take it anymore and leaves. If he has to be in the same room together with these three vixens, he might as well go to work. At least there he'll get paid for his time. Amanda astutely notes that although Brooke got the ring, Alison got the "in sickness," and Billy the "and in health" part of the vows. We see by the grin on her face that Alison, despite her blindness, hasn't been this happy since her days in the fast lane with drugged-out Zach.
- [Richard Hart's Home]
- Jane and Richard look like they're playing Twister in bed. "Right foot, green!" They're kissing, when Richard pulls away. Jane asks if everything's OK. Yeah, except for the sharp pains of guilt pounding away at his head every waking moment. "But honey, Mackenzie died over a week ago!" consoles Jane. Richard, knowing now that Jane understands, tells her, "Actually, things are really different with you, Jane. Really different. Really, really different. Soooo different that you remind me of my relationship with Mackenzie. So will you marry me?" "Whoa, wait a minute," exclaims Jane, "love and life and romance can wait. After all, those things are only material. And speaking of material, we should really concentrate on the Spring line!!" Nice segue way, Jane.
- [Back to MP]
- Jo drops by Jake's with a cup of coffee in hand, figuring he needs some help sobering up. Seems Jake's been wasting away in Margaritaville lately. Jake still has a bum leg so he just wants to talk the talk even though Jo feels they should walk the walk. They admit that they care about each other (they do this at least once an episode), their bodies lean closer together, and they soon embrace in a kiss. At first, Jo screams out, "Ohhh jes, I mean, yessss!" But moments later she regains her senses and backs off . She feels the two of them are constantly being brought together by crisis, and considering recent events, maybe they should admit their closeness should be best left as "friends." What a tease.
- [Wilshire Memorial Psycho Ward]
- Dr. Peter Burns visits Kimberly who is going nuts being locked up in her room. All she wants is a pencil and for Peter to "lend a hand," but Peter knows better. He came to tell her she must fake insanity for the new forensic psychiatrist so that the judge will send her to the loony bin. Once they get her put away in a private institution, Peter swears that he'll petition to get her out and life will be back to normal. At this point, Kimberly begins rambling on to Peter that she's starting to remember events of the past, including visits from an evil demonic being with a Latin accent who kept haunting and controlling her, telling her what to do. Peter, amazed at her wild and colorful imagination, exclaims, "Wow Kimberly, you're such a quick learner!"
- [Wilshire Memorial, Men's Room]
- Paul enters the restroom and runs into Matt, who tries to trick Paul into admitting that he murdered his wife while Matt secretly records their conversation. Paul inquires, "Is that a tape recorder in your pants pocket Matt, or are you just happy to see me?" Matt's plan is to tell Paul that he has a letter from Paul's wife, mailed the morning of her death. In the letter, Matt claims, Carol warned Matt that Paul was behaving strangely and that she feared for her life. Paul seems to be sweating, looking very uncomfortable. Maybe he's starting to feel guilty -- or the 10 cups of coffee are finally getting to him!
- [Medical Office of Mancini & Burns, or Burns & Mancini]
- Syd is busy as the new receptionist. The phone's been ringing off the hook all morning long. Peter Burns arrives. Phones stop ringing long enough for the two of them to have a conversation. Sydney demands to know where he's been all morning, but Peter reminds her that her job is to answer the phone, not ask questions. Ignoring him, she then asks why the shrink who's diagnosing Kimberly's mental state is billing the practice, and if Michael knows what Peter's intentions are with that psycho bomber, qu'est que c'est. Peter warns her that if she wants to continue working there that she be less inquisitive and not tell Michael anything regarding Peter's behavior, saying, "I suggest that you keep your overpaid trap shut!" "Whattaya mean? My trap's been shut ever since I quit being a hooker!" Sydney retorts. "Oh wait. What trap are YOU talking about?" Phone lines start ringing again.
- [MP, Alison's Apartment]
- Brooke walks in, and Alison calls out, "Billy?" "You can call me Billy if you want," Brooke says, "but then what will you call my husband?" Brooke is just a *tad* upset that Billy is spending more time with Alison than with her. Alison can't understand why Brooke isn't more understanding. Brooke says that if Alison goes to the company party tonight that she better keep her hands off Billy. Then she helps Alison "clear" the kitchen counter before she leaves. Unfortunately for Alison, she has to clean the floor herself!
- [Lawyer's Office]
- Matt describes his feeble attempt to trap Paul into confessing to his lawyer, Alicia Barnett. She tells him to leave the investigating to the pros. This upsets Matt, and he flies off the handle in another one of those hissy fits of his. So she quits as his lawyer wishing he would be more effeminate.
- [MP, Jo's Apartment]
- Jo is trying to convince Matt to apologize and get his lawyer back. Amanda stops by to provide support as only Amanda can: "While some people may not feel comfortable with your presence here, you have my full support. I mean, the way I see it, even if you did murder that woman, it was clearly a crime of passion. It's not like you're a serial killer. Well, see ya!" Simply elegant. Next, Paul calls, and asks Matt to come by later that evening, and to bring the letter. Matt's half-baked plan just may work.
- [Wilshire Memorial Psycho Ward]
- Peter spews some mumbo jumbo about Kimberly exhibiting a manifestation of schizophrenia, multiple personality disorder. Peter recommends a private sanitarium called Sun Glen, where this type of disorder can be treated. All Kimberly does the whole time is lay there babbling. Some acting!!! The shrink doesn't believe Kimberly is criminally insane. Man, what a time for that demon personality to take a leave of absence!! Peter's pissed because the shrink is still going to bill him!!
- [Mackenzie - Hart]
- Jane hires Jo as the staff photographer for the company. The company is keeping Mackenzie's death a secret from the public, at least temporarily. Jo asks Jane if she knows what she's doing. Jane responds, "I've never been sure about anything in my life, why should I start now?" Jane invites Jo and a date to celebrate Jane's domineering behavior by having dinner with her and Hart later on.
- [MP, Jo's Apartment]
- Jo and Jake come home only to find a note from Matt saying he's gone to Paul's. Jo calls Matt's lawyer, who may or may not be handling Matt's case anymore.
- [Paul's Home]
- Matt arrives with his handy dandy tape recorder strapped to his chest. Paul lets him in and asks for the letter. Then Paul notices the extra long extension cord coming out of Matt's shirt and detects something's amiss. He pulls out his gun, and Matt hands over the tape recorder. Matt admits that the letter is fictitious. Paul, knowing he's won, speaks into the mic admitting that he is the killer. Just then the cops and Matt's lawyer bust in. Paul points his gun at them so they immediately start shooting, kill him dead, and then tell him to, "Freeze, sucker!!!!" (Cops in L.A. do it differenly.)
- [D&D Party]
- The advertising gang is all there. Alison managed to get there without anybody else's help. The party is a success and congratulations are in order. Amanda is impressed, and only wishes Alison could see how well everything looks. Alison says, "I'm just glad I can hear the band. They sound wonderful.", completely forgetting that she had hired a DJ for the event instead. Billy feels obligated to offer her a dance, against Brooke's wishes. As they slow dance, Alison recalls a famous line: "You had the power to SEE all along. All you had to do is click your heels three times, and say to yourself, 'there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home." So she clicks, she recites, she sees. But she keeps it a secret and they dance the night away.
- [MP, Jane's Apartment]
- The next morning, Alison tells Jane how guilty she feels for not telling anyone she could see. Jane reminds her that Brooke won't let Billy near her once she finds out the truth, and recommends that Alison continue to fake her blindness. Alison says she can't do that, but Jane reassures her saying, "C'mon, it's as easy as faking -- well, you know -- other things! I do it with Hart all the time."
- [Wilshire Memorial]
- The hospital staff is having a "Welcome Back, Matt" party. Dr. Hobbs, the Chief of Staff, however, does not share in the rest of the staff's happiness. In fact, he is extremely upset that he lost a fine surgeon, shot dead in the prime of his career. Life's just not fair. And with Kimberly going to trial, that makes the hospital even more understaffed.. So in a fit of rage he fires poor Matt. Hobbs deserves a punch in the face but Matt seems to be over that phase of his life, or at least that episode of his life.
- [D&D, Amanda's Office]
- While Amanda works hard at her desk to finish her colossal Caesar's salad, she has Brooke file a few folders. Brooke notes that one of the file cabinets is locked and labeled "Don't Look In Here." Amanda exhibits a hint of her old self, talking down to Brooke throughout the whole scene. Ahhh, that's the Amanda we know and love.
- [Cucina Restaurant]
- Jane and Richard, Jo and Jake have dinner together. Much small talk, everybody gets their moment to trash on Jo regarding how she got the staff photographer position, since the position wasn't really available. In addition, Richard lets some of his anger regarding Jane's bossiness show. Afterwards, Jo is furious that Jake didn't support her during dinner, but she's willing to forget it if he'll be her boyfriend. Okee-dokee.
- [MP, Amanda's Apartment]
- Amanda and Billy (how come he's never at his own place) are talking about Alison's blindness over a glass of champagne. Billy says he would never abandon her while she's in this state. Meanwhile, Alison is on her way up to tell Billy the truth about her vision. But due to her recently heightened aural sensitivity, as she nears she hears this conversation and figures she better GO BLIND if she wants to retain Billy's attention. Now, if she can only figure out how to get thrown across her living room again!!
- [Mackenzie - Hart]
- Hart drops Jane off at home after dinner and then proceeds to his office to mope. Jane drives over to try to lessen the stress that is building between them. He knows he's losing control of the company, not to mention his self-esteem, and doesn't know why Jane is Jane. Jane says she treats him like dirt because she DOES care for him, then distracts him by dropping her coat, revealing her newly-proportioned body. Hart thinks, "Wait a minute, let me think -- was that the same outfit she wore at dinner?" He melts in her hand like a defective M&M candy. What a chump!
- [D&D, Amanda's Office]
- Later in the day, Brooke returns to Amanda's office. Poking around a little, she finds the key to the locked file cabinet. Hidden (not very well) at the back of the drawer is a manila envelope containing a driver's license:
State of Florida
Lic #4321-590-01-501
Amanda Parezi
3439 Golfview Rd
Miami FL 32904
D.O.B. 11-08-63
Brooke takes one look at Amanda's photo on the license and immediately understands why Amanda has kept it locked and hidden all these years. "I can see her roots!" notes Brooke. Just then, Alison pops in, sees Brooke, then quickly feigns her blindness before Brooke has a chance to look up. Thinking quickly, Alison stammers, "Is anyone here?" Brooke remains silent thinking she's fooling Alison and Alison leaves soon thereafter. Brooke then sasses, "Nobody, you blind bitch!" (Hmmm, poor Sydney. Seems as though Brooke's getting all the good lines these days!)
- [LA County Courthouse]
- People vs. Shaw. Stalking charges are dropped, but detonating bombs in a residential district and homicide are not. Michael and Sydney are present, wanting to testify against Kimberly. While Kimberly sits there, she looks at the reflection in a metal water pitcher and lo and behold, sees her favorite demonic image, who says he'll never leave her. She angrily replies, "Where were you when I needed to ACT crazy?!?!" As she's carrying on this conversation with her water pitcher, Michael creates a scene by interrupting the proceedings demanding the judge to put her away. Meanwhile, the demonic figure reminds Kimberly that her job is not finished yet, that Michael is still alive and that he must die!" His ugliness is so disturbing that she finally blows up and literally flies across the courtroom, trying to attack Michael. The bailiffs restrain her and drag her out as she screams and kicks. Now she really does look like a psycho and Peter is convinced she will be committed.
- [MP, Jake's Apartment]
- Knock on the door. Jake thinks it's Jo, but when he opens the door he is confronted with a blond woman. She's Shelly Hanson, Jess' ex-wife. She's looking for Jess, and Jake has to break the news that he died of natural causes. (When you fall off a building, naturally, you die.) She falls into Jake's solacing arms, weeping, sans tears. You feel so sorry for her because you know she's supposed to squirt some tears out but they're just not coming!
- [State Mental Ward]
- Kimberly is spending time in a guarded state mental ward. She's curled up in the fetal position she's become accustomed to assuming lately. Although not seen, you hear the voice of her beard-wielding, demon-looking, raspy-sounding Svengali saying she's "...Kimberly, you're trapped, trapped, trapped ...because of HIM." Just then, Peter visits, proud of her performance in the courtroom. She doesn't want to see him, however, and physically lashes out at him. Peter and the attendant barely manage to escape and slam the cell door shut, and Peter watches in total bewilderment, as Kimberly screams, out of control, "YOU LIED! YOU LIED! YOU LIED! YOU TOLD ME MY CELL WOULD BE PADDED BUT IT'S NOT!!! AND NO PENCILS, EITHER! UGHHHH." Peter's facial expression looks as if to say, "Hmmm, maybe it wasn't all an act; maybe I did drive her a little too hard..."
