Title: "Drawing Henry"
Original Air Date: Monday, October 02, 1995Synopsis
[To Be Continued...]
- [State Mental Ward]
- A sketch artist is in Kimberly's cell as she frantically describes the various reflective surfaces in which she 's seen that demonic image. The artist, working furiously, draws a beautiful-looking mirror, and when Kimberly looks at the sketch you can clearly see that evil satanic being appear before your eyes, Medusa hair and all! This causes her to cringe and writhe. "O. Henry!!!" she exclaims. "Really? Have you read 'Cabbages and Kings' yet?" Peter asks. "I promise to bring you a copy on my next visit."
- [D&D Advertising, Brooke's New Office]
- Amanda confronts Brooke about some of the liberties she's taken regarding account decisions since being promoted by Amanda. "Oh, I was just working late and you weren't here to give approval. I'm sure Billy or Alison would do the same thing." "I doubt it," interjects Billy, "we don't do overtime!!" Just then, Jack Parezi calls from his hotel room. He wants to meet Brooke. Quick to think, she says, "I can't meet you now, I'm just about to go to a meeting. But why don't I meet you in 10 minutes at the Cafe at the Wilshire Hotel?" How short can a meeting be?
- [Cafe at the Wilshire Hotel]
- Brooke meets up with Jack. They flirt, blah, blah, blah. Obviously, both have been there, done that.
- [Hart & Mancini Designs]
- They unveil the new company name and logo. But Richard doesn't look pleased. "I don't understand" confesses Jane. "Look, I don't underestimate the pressures you're under," states Richard. "No, but maybe you underestimate my fear. I feel I have trouble doing two new things at once. That's why you never see me chew gum. But aren't I cute with my new "do"? Please say yes because I just want to feel secure for once in my life." Richard proclaims, "Some define security as being in the arms of the one that loves them." "Well, can I keep your ring anyway?" Later that day, Jo is called into Hart's office. Jo appears to be getting into that Madonna look, her blouse conveniently unbuttoned revealing her black bra. Or, maybe it was just that Alison helped her get dressed that morning.
- [Wilshire Memorial]
- Hobbs, Mancini, Burns are each served subpoenas. Matt Fielding is suing Hobbs for sexual discrimination. Michael says it's his duty to "tell the truth" for a change, actually hoping to get the chief-of-staff position once it opens up. Meanwhile, Peter makes it clear he's on Hobbs' side as he puts his arm around him in support. Hobbs denies the allegations, claiming "I never used language like that, and get your hands off me, you little queer!"
- [MP, Nighttime]
- Jo arrives home, Jake is doing laps in the pool. Jake invites her in, so Jo, excited, runs up to get into her swimsuit. But when Shelly struts out wearing a couple of beers and carrying a string bikini, Jo gets jealous. Later that evening, Billy and Brooke are sipping wine and contemplating life when Jack calls. He demands to meet her the next morning at 8 am at the art museum. Since Billy is loitering in his own apartment, Brooke pretends to be talking to a creditor, saying, "OK, I'll mail the check in the morning." As she hangs up, Billy says, "They say that's one of the 3 great LIES." Hmmm, even though an idiot about most things, Billy seems to have "wised" up with respect to his wife. (And I thought Matt was the only "savant" in the show!!! But regarding Billy, if the "shue" fits...)
- [MP, next morning]
- Jane's apt. Jo talks about her jealousy. Callous Jane says to relax. Maybe the Shelly-thing is just something Jake needs to do to feel better about Jess. You know, the way Jo "consoled" Jess when he was having problems with Jake. That didn't make Jo feel much better though. But just to make sure, Shelly reaffirms with Jo that no matter what goes on inside the apartment, when she's spread out on the couch, it's only to sleep.
- [Los Angeles County Museum of Art]
- Brooke meets Jack to tell him she can't have an affair with him. But Jack says she overestimates herself since he wants to see her, not about sex, but about Amanda. It's taken him 5 years, but he's finally starting to put the pieces together. Being a housewife wasn't Amanda's thing. And Amanda always wanted to work in advertising as long as it was near the beach (Do these really go together?) What really threw him off, however, was the fact that she changed her name back to Woodward, her maiden name. Only a genius would have thought of that! Brooke senses this guy isn't too healthy to be around so she tries to lie saying she doesn't know Amanda and she has to go. He warns Brooke that her lying insults the little intelligence he has. Just then, Billy walks by and catches a glimpse of the two talking. Excuse me, but what the heck is Billy doing wandering around the museum at 8 o'clock in the morning? It's not even open until ten!
- [D&D Advertising]
- Billy confronts Brooke about the guy she was with. Brooke admits that the stud muffin she met with was Amanda's old husband. "Don't lie. He didn't look that old to me!" snaps Billy. You have to wake up pretty early in the morning to pull one over on Billy. Or at least earlier than 8 am!
- [MP, Night]
- Hayley Armstrong visits Alison. He proposes a plan to break up Billy and Brooke's marriage and wants Alison to help. Alison is somewhat leery. After all, he did ship her to Hong Kong a few episodes back. Hayley promises it's different this time, and to prove it he invites her to dinner on his yacht, and suggests she bring a sweater. After all, "...It can get very chilly in the water." So later, Alison goes over to tell Hayley she doesn't want any part in his plan. He understands, then tells her he has a couple bottles of Absolut in his freezer asks if she wants to come in and get blitzed. She readily accepts, but then recomposes herself, leaves, but immediately trips over the edge of the dock and falls INTO the polluted waters of Marina Del Rey. "Good thing I wore that sweater!!" She ends up staying for dinner. Somehow her clothes dry. Then, in a Brooke-Hayley moment, they lean close together to give each other a kiss but pull away at the very last minute and Alison leaves.
- [Mid-Wilshire Professional Building]
- Jack phones Kimberly's mother to inform her about her daughter's problem, while Sydney eavesdrops from the other room. He breaks the news that although Kimberly is all right physically, she has had a mental breakdown. "At the end of every season, she tries to hurt somebody -- one year it's running someone over in a car, the next it's blowing 'em to pieces. Now she's tormented by a voice, a vision, a man she calls Henry." With that, her mother freaks out. She turns cold, refusing to help despite Jack's plea.
- [State Mental Ward]
- Kimberly's mother arrives with a court order, allowing her to take Kimberly back to Cleveland. "No, No!, NO!, anywhere but OHIO!!! I would have opted for the lobotomy special instead! Two lobes for the price of one." Mother finally reveals the secret of Henry. Many years ago, he was the family gardener who wanted to cultivate more than just their cabbage patch. Eight year old Kimberly came down the stairs and saw the whole thing. So she picked up a nearby cake knife and did some pruning of her own. No charges were pressed because the family "had connections." They tried to convince Kimberly that the whole thing never happened, that it was just a dream. "Phew! Well, thanks mom. Guess it's time to go back to being a doctor," a relieved Kimberly states.
- [Wilshire Memorial, Hobbs' Office]
- Dr. Hobbs calls Matt in and offers him $25,000 to "drop the suit." "I'm NOT that kind of guy," Matt says, adding, "You don't get it, Hobbs. You think you can live in your phallic ivory tower just because you're King in this hospital and you see me as your Queen." When Hobbs promises Matt he will blackball him, Matt quickly responds, "Sorry, but I'm not into that kinky stuff!"
- Jake calls Jo up to room 1720. He's rented a suite at the same hotel where Jo's doing her photo shoot. He tries to romance her with roses and champagne. But Jo makes Jake grovel. Only then does she take him back.
- [Hart & Mancini Designs]
- The next day, Jo is showing Jane the results of the photo shoot. Jo catches a glimpse of Jane's engagement ring. But Jane admits she doesn't love Richard, at least not the way she loved Michael. "But look what happened in that relationship." Jane laughs. Jo confides, thinking back to all the guys who have treated her so well, and adds, "I'd hate to think that I'm the only one who loves to be with men who make you miserable!!"
- [Shooters]
- Shelly makes her move in the pantry giving Jake a soothing massage. He starts to melt but recovers in time to tell Shelly she's gotta get her own place. Even though it's around midnight, Shelly leaves to start looking for an apartment immediately. "Any affection I have for you is strictly friendship," as she plants a wet one and flashes him those puppy-eyes. She knows just how to jake his chain.
- [D&D Advertising]
- Brooke tells Amanda about Jack. Amanda freaks out. "He'll kill me!!" Just then, Jack shows up. Amanda escapes out the back. He says he's figured it all out, but he really hasn't. Duh! But Brooke spills the beans that Amanda works there. Does Brooke actually care?
- [Los Angeles International Airport]
- Amanda is trying to get on board a flight to somewhere. But Jack just happens to be at the SAME terminal. She flees. Unfortunately, she happens to be wearing a full-length (but decidedly tight!) white dress, not a mini-mini like she normally does. So when she tries to run, all she can do is shuffle. Needless to say Jack catches her. He concocts this story that he has a new fiancee. Since Amanda's only been missing 5 years, she's not legally dead according to the statutes of Florida. So now he needs her to sign divorce papers so he can go on with his life. He claims he's changed, and wants to give her a clean "break." Considering he used to beat her, we're not sure what this means. She has tears in her eyes, maybe anticipating what's to come!
