Box turtles are semi-terrestrials, they are not tortoises, their diet and care is very different from that of the tortoise. Aquatic turtles are not to be kept as if they are fish, even though the housing set up for them is similar to fish. Treating them as if they are fish will kill them. Many species are federally protected, these laws pertain not just to sea turtles, many other species are protected, too. Before investing in a turtle or taking one out of the wild without a clue, please research them thoroughly. They are not cheap to keep, they have specific needs, and frankly I'm tired of seeing people take them home for pets because they are "cool" only to kill them through ignorance.
