This region is dominated by mountain ranges and some very arid country; great for whitewater enthusiasts, but good canoe float streams are few and far between.  Those we find are among some of the most interesting (and challenging).  The upper Missouri in Montana is the "must do" river for all serious canoe camping enthusiasts.
