This is the
Beginning of the "Story without Book" Series
by Tarty Teh
The story "Home Free" was written as dedication to my son Jahtay Kyle Teh on his 5th birthday on August 22, 1996. The story is written from memory of how my mother told it to me and my brothers and sisters at bedtime. Any variation from its original Grebo folklore rendition may be due to my mother's genius for storytelling and the ready license for tailoring such stories to fit the location and the imagination of the storyteller and her immediate audience.
The name of the main character is as given in the original Grebo folklore, but the places he travels, and the creeks and streams he traverses, are those I knew in my boyhood.
