Dig those stars and stripes!
In honor of my holiday, I'm giving the secretary a little break. She's needs one ... I think you'll see why after you read about the mess she made the other night and why.
Kitty Litter Cake
See what I mean! She swears it was worth every bit of the trouble and now she's thinking about getting another job just so she can gross out a whole new group of people.
Here's the recipe:
1 SPICE or GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE MIX
1 WHITE CAKE MIX
1 pkg WHITE SANDWICH COOKIES
1 large pkg VANILLA INSTANT PUDDING MIX
GREEN FOOD COLORING
12 small TOOTSIE ROLLS
1 new KITTY LITTER BOX
1 new KITTY LITTER BOX LINER
1 new POOPER SCOOPER
• Prepare cake mixes and bake according to directions (any size pans).
• Prepare pudding mix and chill until ready to assemble.
• Crumble white sandwich cookies in small batches in blender, they tend to stick, so scrape often. Set aside all but about 1/4 cup. (see ** below)
• To the 1/4 cup cookie crumbs, add a few drops green food coloring and mix using a fork or shake in a jar.
• When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble into a large bowl. Toss with half the remaining white cookie crumbs and the chilled pudding. You probably won't need all of the pudding, mix with the cake and "feel" it, you don't want it soggy, just moist; gently combine.
• Line new, clean kitty litter box. Put mixture into litter box.
• Put three unwrapped Tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat until soft and pliable. Shape ends so they are no longer blunt, curving slightly.
• Repeat with 3 more Tootsie rolls and bury in mixture.
• Sprinkle the other half of cookie crumbs over top. Scatter the green cookie crumbs lightly over the top, this is supposed to look like the chlorophyll in kitty litter.
• Heat remaining Tootsie Rolls, 3 at a time, in the microwave until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with cookie crumbs.
**This is my addition--only spread 5 of the remaining Tootsie Rolls over the top; take one and heat until pliable, hang it over the side of the kitty litter box; sprinkling it lightly with cookie crumbs.**
• Place the box on a newspaper and sprinkle a few of the cookie crumbs around.
• Serve with a new pooper scooper.

** NOTE: One way that my mom and I found to make it easier: Instead of crumbling the cookies in a blender, we put them in a plastic baggie and then crumbled them by pounding the baggie with a mallet. That way you don't get the blender all icky and have to keep cleaning it; when the baggie gets too yucky you just replace it with another one!**
A FINISHING TOUCH

"Wasn't sure if it had to be refrigerated (because of the pudding) so I put it in the fridge last night. Well that caused the tootsie poopsie I had hung over the side to run just a little bit down into the litter box. A perfect touch!"
Proper credits and links can be found under Recipes of a Different Color - did it this way because a friend's computer locks up whenever she tries to get to the page - she's on aol too. So you're on your own, you might get that dumb tripod pop-up thingy too, if so, click the x in the top corner to get rid of it.
Then, you might have to click it again to get back here and it might bump you off, so bookmark this page, or remember to go back to Site Index II.
This is a good time to tell you we're still looking at new servers and stuff. If we're not back here as usual next week keep checking until you see a link to new pages.
We're planning to send announcements too - make sure you're on the list by dropping us a note.
Setting up the new deal may take a while, make sure you don't run out of recipes to try by ordering the secretary's book.
Now come on over to Buster's Party to see why anybody would want to make a poop cake in the first place. Warning: he's a cute little squirt.
