The Ninth Georgia Volunteer Infantry Award

Welcome to the Ninth Georgia Infantry CSA, Award and Application Page

There are many websites on the internet pertaining to the Civil War, or as it's called down South, the War Between the States. Many of these sites are wonderful; informative, colorful and a pleasure to review ( from the perspective as the webmaster of my own site ). The Ninth Georgia Award is different from most other Civil War Website awards. We require the following: .....a site that shows us something!! Make us glad, sad, or mad-but evoke an emotion! .....a site that contributes to the existing knowledge of the Civil War. .....a site that is pleasing to the eye.
It is our intent to issue the award to websites that are the BEST!
What you should know before applying! This award is earned, not granted!
Quickly disqualified!!!!......
Commercial sites (Award given to non-commercial sites only).
Any site that is not Civil War related.
Any site that promotes ethnic, religious or racial bigotry.
Any site that inordinately relies on profanity.
Any site that is historically inaccurate.
Any site that does not quote it's sources, or credit it's contributors.
Any site that consistently uses incorrect English, or contains mis-spelled words.
Sites with so much Java script that my browser locks up.

How it works.......
This award will not be given to every applicant. Many sites will simply not be up to the standard. It is not the purpose of the Ninth Georgia to accelerate traffic by handing out awards to everyone. The Ninth Georgia CSA Website award is a reward for hard work and making a contribution to the internet. The requirements are stringent.
Who decides?
A three judge panel will review your site within 10 days of your request. A negative vote by any one of the three judges results in a site not being given the Ninth Georgia Award. Applicants can expect an answer 10-14 days after the request. You will be notified, via email, of our decision, and the reasons. Sorry, but there is no appeal of a decision. We will, however, review a site again if asked to do so after 30 days. If you still think your site meets the criteria, fill out the form below.
MINIMUM requirements:
--Promotes your chosen area of the Civil War in a dignified and professional manner.
--Contains information that would be of interest to the descendant of a soldier.
--Has a visually pleasing and logical presentation.
--Gives proper credit to sources with adequate documentation.
--Has graphics related to your theme. This may be photos, or computer generated .gifs and/or .jpegs.
--Uses HTML (hyper text markup language) with enough knowledge so there are no broken graphics or "dead-ends".
--Shows PRIDE in work.
--Stirs an emotion in the viewer.
--This is the most difficult to judge; the website must show "heart". We realize what this is, but have a hard time describing it. All we can tell you is that we know it when we see it. Perhaps best expressed as "Substance with Style."
Good luck, and thanks for your application..........
