| Many thanks to Mr. Nick Gaze, Secretary of the Ivor
Novello Information Bureau for kindly sharing the above and the following
pictures from Ivor Novello's personal scrapbook.
The captions beneath the photos and the following text are quoted from
newsclippings in the scrapbook:
"Mr. Ivor Novello, the celebrated jeune premier of the pictures,who
has now left London for Budapest, where he is to appear in an Austrian
picture called "Fortune - Hunters." In this drama he is cast for
a cavalry officer, and has re-grown the famous moustache with which hehe
provided himself recently, and then shaved off. He will be away forsome
six weeks, and expects to resume his stage work on this return. Mr.
Ivor Novello owns a most attractive London flat, which is pictured above.
The front door is a solid oak affair on the lines of an old convent door,
and the flat consists of a suite of rooms leading out of each other, each
room lit by sky-lights, as the flat is situated over the Aldwych Theatre.
The dining-room has pickled-walnut furniture, and a mirror with a finely
carved frame. There is a music-room and what appears to be a library;
but some of the books are dummies, and can be taken out to reveal a special
cupboard for gramophone records." |
