The Dove
The doves coo their praises,
And man's cursing scares them away.
Dumb creatures that they are,
Still know who is their Creator.
The man must know too,
His profanity included his Creator's name.
So why did he frighten His creation,
Good words said so cruelly as to make them filth.
The dove came back with the olive branch,
Signaling dry land was there.
Man's evil is the reason,
That he had to be sent to look.
So many men on this world,
But only eight were saved.
Take note,
Two of each kind was spared.
The dove was the medium,
Used for the voice of God.
Proclaiming that Our Lord,
Was indeed the Son of God.
Man wouldn't see their folly,
They refused flee from immorality.
Because they were so blind,
The most innocent of innocents had to die.
The dove is a symbol among many,
Standing for purity and God's grace.
Pointing as on that day with John the Baptist,
That Our Lord is the only way and truth.
Why can the dumb beast see,
While our eyes our so blinded.
Perhaps we don't want to admit we have sin,
Or maybe that dumb beast isn't so dumb after all.

The Rope
As Christians we are like the rock climber.
Tethered to a mountain by only a single rope.
We grab each foothold to pull us closer to the top,
Knowing that should our foot slip we will backslide and fall.
Yes, we'll get some bumps and bruises,
But the rope keeps us from total destruction.
The mountain is our narrow road,
The rope is our Lord.
We may stumble,
But he helps us up.
We may be a little lower on the mountain,
But now we have a renewed strength.
We now know that should we fall,
The rope will hold.
We climb up again,
Perhaps a little more cautiously.
On the way we sometimes stumble,
But our rope is always there.
In the end we reach the top.
Our clothes are torn,
And we are a little battered.
But a word from our Lord,
Turns our rags into gowns.
The path is steep,
And sometimes hard to follow.
The reward, however, is infinite.
The rock climber will say that reaching the top is his reward.
Ours is eternal life with our rope,
JESUS CHRIST
