Daniel Jackson looked at the computer screen in front of him and closed his eyes. He took off his glasses and tiredly rubbed his face. He glanced back down at his journal propped open between a coffee mug and a paperweight. He silently cursed himself for letting himself get this far behind on reports. Not that he had had anytime to work on them. Four worlds in under a week, it had to be a new record.

He sighed and picked up the coffee mug. This looked like he was going to pull an all nighter to get this pile of work down, but first he needed more coffee.

He rubbed the back of his neck and stretched as he walked down the deserted halls of the SGC. Barely anyone was up at this time of night.

It was so quiet.

Empty.

'Don't go there, Jackson,' he warned himself. He sighed, too late. The deep familiar ache filled his chest and he wondered of the millionth time where Sha're was. How she was doing. If she wondered about him.

He felt an equally familiar anger building up just as powerful as the longing. A hate for what had taken her. Changed her. Used her. Daniel ground his teeth in frustration. There was nothing he could do and that hurt even worse than any physical pain.

Daniel forced these feelings down, just like he always did and what? Told himself to get a grip? Reminded himself that all this speculation did nothing but raise his blood pressure and give him an ulcer? Daniel smiled ruefully and pushed the door to break room open.

He was thankful that is was empty. A small radio sat on the counter by the sink blaring away. Daniel shook his head and headed for the coffee maker. The song that was playing wound down and the music changed. Daniel took a sip of his coffee and closed his eyes.

I can't imagine any greater fear

Then waking up with out you near

And though the sun would still shine on

My whole world would all be gone.

But not for long

"You hate me," tears coursed down Sha're's face and she turned her back to Daniel to hide her shame.

"No, Sha're, no," he said roughly. He crossed the tent to her. Tears burned his eyes and he struggled to keep them in check. He pulled her into his arms. "I hate what has happened to you, but I love you."

She bowed her head. "I am so ashamed," she said trying to hold back her sobs.

"Look at me," he pulled her to face him. "I love you" He wrapped his arms around her and held her. He could feel her hot tears on his neck as he held her. He buried his face in her hair, let his own tears finally come.

Sha're pulled away from him. Her dark eyes searching his face. "Will you stay, my husband?"

Daniel sniffed and swallowed. He cradled her face in his hands. "I can't." He could see the anguish in her eyes and leaned his forehead against her's. "Because, I want you to come home with me."

Sha're stared at him and surprise and a small smile appeared beneath the tears.

If I had to run.

If I had to crawl

If I had to swim a hundred rivers

Just to climb a thousand walls

Always know that I would find a way

To get to where you are

There's no place that far

Daniel gripped her hand tightly as they hurried into the Stargate room in the pyramid. Suddenly, Sha're froze.

"My Dani-el!"

Daniel had almost made it to the DHD and turned to look at her. "What?" Then he felt it to. The ground had begun to tremble and sand was filtering down through the stone work over their heads.

"It is a Goa'uld ship," Teal'c announced, alarm creeping into his normally calm voice.

Sha're pulled way from Daniel. He turned to see what was going on and froze. Sha're's eyes flashed in the dim chamber and her voice took on the sinister undertones of a Goa'uld. "My Pharaoh has returned for me."

Daniel gripped her face with both of his hands. "Sha're, no. You can fight this."

Sha're blinking and panic filled her face. "Dani-el?" Suddenly, her face contorted in pain and she crumpled to the floor.

"No," Daniel moaned. Not now.

It wouldn't matter, why we're apart

The lonely miles, two stubborn hearts.

And nothing short, of God above

Could turn me away, from your love

I need you that much

"Daniel Jackson, we must leave. Heru'Ur's guards with be looking for the child." Teal'c stood looking up at him.

Daniel cradled Sha're in his arms, supporting her as the contractions came closer and closer together. They  had such little time left. "I'm not going to leave her."

Sha're cried out as another contraction came. Daniel dipped a cloth in the bowl at his side and wiped her brow with the cool cloth. "Sha're breathe." He laid his cheek against her head. "Remember these are the caves we hid from Ra. We're safe here."

"Dani-el, the baby is coming. The demon will return." Sha're cried out as another contraction began.

"I know," Daniel said, blinking the tears away that kept clouding his vision. "But you have to push."

"Daniel Jackson," Teal'c tone grew more insistent.

Daniel glared at Teal'c. "I said I'm not going to leave her."

Teal'c nodded. "Very well, I will do what I can to keep you from becoming discovered." He pulled out the Zat gun and headed back out of the caves

Sha're turned to look at Daniel. "You do love me, my Dani-el." She leaned her head back against his shoulder and he kissed her.

Oh, If I had to run

(if I had to run)

If I had to crawl

(if I had to crawl)

If I had to swim a hundred Rivers.

Just to climb a thousand walls

Always know that I would find a way

To get to where you are

There's no place that far

Baby, there's no place that far

"Sha're, push!"

"No," Sha're cried. "The demon will return." Another contraction began and she cried out in pain. "Dani-el!"

Daniel looked up, tears started to course down his face. "Sha're, I'm here. I love you. I will always love you. That's something the Goa'uld can never take away from us. Our love for each other." Daniel squeezed her leg and their eyes met. Sha're tensed another contraction started. Daniel swallowed. "I'm here Sha're, and now the baby is too. So, you have to push."

"I'm sorry, my Dani-el," Sha're whispered.

Daniel held the baby in his hand. So tiny. So perfect. "It's a boy." Then he realized what that really meant. "It's a boy." Just as Apophis needed.

He looked up and saw the light of Goa'uld power flash in Sha're's eyes.. The baby was here, and Sha're was gone.

Always know that I would find a way

To get to where you are

There's no place that far

Baby, there's no place that far

"Would some one like to tell me what's going on here?" Jack demanded. Carter helped Teal'c to his feet and they came down the steps from the Stargate to meet them.

Suddenly, Stargate started began to grind into motion again and the chevrons locked in place one by one.

"It's Apophis," Daniel said, quietly.

"Apophis!" Jack exclaimed.

"We need to get out of sight."

They hurried to hide behind the pillar. The Stargate blossomed out and Serpent Guards stepped out followed by Apophis.

"Find Ammonet," Apophis ordered one of the guard.

"I am here, my Lord." Daniel saw her enter the chamber and his heart lurched in his chest. She wasn't Sha're anymore, she was Ammonet, queen of Apophis.

Apophis came down the steps to meet her. "The child."

Ammonet hung her head. "He was taken by your enemy Heru'Ur, my Lord. I was unable to stop him. Forgive me."

Daniel tensed, if he harmed her. So help him, it didn't matter if the place was full of Serpent guards.

Suddenly she turned her head and looked directly at him. Daniel could feel Teal'c stiffen beside him. But she said nothing.

Apophis approached her and tenderly lifted her chin with a finger. He held out his arm. "Let us depart."

Ammonet gave them one last look and then they disappeared through the Stargate.

Daniel was on his feet and out into the chamber as soon as they stepped through. Jack came up beside him. "You ok?"

Daniel shook his head, his eyes locked on the Stargate as it winked out. "No." Then he looked at Jack. "But I will be."

Teal'c stepped out from behind him. "Daniel Jackson, did you see. She looked directly at us and did not reveal our location."

"I know."

Sam hovered nervously behind them at the DHD. "Sir, there's still a Goa'uld ship right on top of us."

"Dial us home, Captain." Jack clapped Daniel on the shoulder. "Let's go home."

Daniel watched his friend go through the Stargate. Soon, Sha're. I will find you and I will take you home, he thought.

Baby, there's no place that far

"Daniel, you know you're supposed to drink that instead of letting it evaporate."

Daniel jerked, nearly dumping the cup of now cold coffee all over the break room floor. "Jack, I didn't see you come in."

Jack chuckled. "Really?"

Daniel smiled sheepishly. "How long have you been standing there?"

"About fifteen minutes," Jack studied him for a while. "Thinking about Sha're again? You ok?"

"No," he said, shaking his head. Then he turned around and clicked the radio off. "But I will be. We'll find her, Jack. We'll find Sha're and Skaara."

"That we will, Danny. That we will."
