CMA101 - History of Meridies
An overview of the history of our Kingdom. This class will cover the history of Meridies from its early days with the East, the switch to Atenveldt, becoming a principality and finally kingdom status. It will also cover key people of the Kingdom such as Duke John the Bearkiller, Duke Orlando, Mistress Rondallyn, Master Cathal, etc. and local figures of importance. Instructors

CMA200 - SCA Structure and Administration
A general outline history of the SCA and its structure. How the business part of the SCA is run and what is meant by membership in the SCA. A description of the various types of groups, the hierarchy, the officers of each group and their respective duties and responsibilities. A general overview of Corpora and Kingdom Law. Instructors

CMA201 - Daily Trials and Tribulations of a Local Seneschal
This classes covers how a seneschal is chosen and transitions between seneschals should be handled. Also covered are the responsibilities of the seneschal, what a seneschal can and cannot do, and how a seneschal can influence the dynamics of a group. Instructors

CMA202 - Great Officer Expectations
This class is conducted by existing or past kingdom level officers. They discuss the expectations of their local group counterparts. Instructors

CMA203 - How the RUM System Works
This class explains the collegiate system of the Royal University of Meridies. Items covered include: explanations of the RUM officers and their responsibilities, the colleges within the collegiate system, degree and graduation requirements, how to have classes and/or instructors certified, student transcripts, and how to sponsor local collegiums. Instructors

CMA204 - Troll Procedures
This class teaches the proper procedures to be used when running Troll. Explanation of the forms, waivers, and filing procedures are given. Instructors

CMA205 - So You Want to be Kingdom Seneschal
This class is conducted by existing or past kingdom seneschals. They discuss the expectations of the kindom seneschal. Instructors

CMA206 - Kingdom Law and Corpora
This class takes the intimidation out of Kingdom Law and Corpora and makes it user-friendly for the local seneschal by providing tips and location tools to those passages most needed. There will be hands-on manipulation of the documents plus a question and answer forum. Instructors

CMA207 - Dealing with Group Internal Conflicts
This class provides ideas for nipping local conflict "in the bud." Topics discussed include: reasons for conflict, why conflicts may escalate, and suggestions on how to stop this from happening while the problems are still local. Instructors

CMA208 - Problem Solving for the Seneschal
This is a lecture class with a practicum and/or question-and-answer session dealing with the sometimes tricky dynamics of human interactions in the SCA. The Seneschal is expected to be friend, confessor, wizard, arbitrator, sage, healer, and all on a salary of thin air and (hopefully) good will. The course will suggest options to Seneschals as they deal with the folk in their groups, and will explore scenarios in which they will be challenged to come up with the best resolution. Instructors

CMA300 - How to Enter an A&S Competition
An overview of how A&S competitions are held, the different categories and the documentation and research needed. Also discussed are the various judging practices and how to be best prepared to answer questions and explain about an entry. Instructors

CMA301 - Research and Documentation
An overview of the resources available for conducting proper SCA research. How to utilize the local libraries, card catalog, inter-library loan, etc. are discussed. An explanation of the differences in primary, secondary and tertiary sources is also provided. Instructors

CMA302 - Determining Good and Bad Sources for Research
This helps students evaluate sources used for documentation and research. A discussion of primary, secondary and tertiary sources is given and the criteria for judging the reliabily of a source is also given. Instructors

CMA303 - Period Cooking Resources
This course covers the sources a feastcrat might use when trying to prepare as accurate as possible a period feast. Also discussed are the best sources to use, the sources to avoid and how the unwary can avoid pitfalls and traps. Also listed as SCI510. Instructors

CMA400 - Protocol and Precedence
An introduction to titles and their meanings. This class will cover the different titles in the SCA; simple awards of arms, grants of arms, peerages, and royal peerages with attention to what the titles are for, how they are achieved and how they rank. (How they are addressed is covered in CMA401 Honor and Courtesy.) Also covered are territorial barons, court barons and local awards. Also listed as SCI401. Instructors

CMA401 - Honor and Courtesy
An introduction to chivalrous and courtly conduct. What to call people with rank, how to behave when called into court, and how to behave in general SCA Society. Emphasis is made on chivalry towards others, whether you are a male or female, and on SCA manners that will make one an asset to the society and a pleasure to be around. Instructors

CMA402 - Chivalrous/Gracious Behavior
A discussion of chivalrous and gracious behavior concentrating on, but not limited to, What to wear and what not to wear, conducting yourself properly and how to deal with the peerages, courtly behavior, and the historical aspects of proper and improper etiquette. Instructors

CMA403 - Guidelines to Court Etiquette
Detailed instruction on how to properly conduct yourself during court. Included in the instruction are the following: how to bow and curtsey, how to show proper respect for the Crown and the thrones, what to do if called up in court and how to retreat from the presence. Instructors

CMA404 - Creative Tokens
An overview of the historical and SCA traditions regarding the giving of tokens and favors. Included are the types of tokens given, various construction methods, how they are worn. Also discussed are the care and respect of tokens and regalia. Instructors

CMA405 - Advanced SCA Etiquette
This class goes beyond when to bow, when to say "Your Ladyship," "Your Grace," etc. This class covers things such as the art of sharing a cabin with strangers, co-ed bathrooms, proper conduct on the sidelines of a tournament, how to make the jobs easier for the volunteers who staff the events. Also covered is "encampment is to house as tent is to bedroom." Instructors

CMA406 - Flirting and Other Friendly Relations in the SCA
A class that covers discussion, advise, demonstation and practice on flirting. The course discusses "who you are" regarding condition and availability, and "what you want" or the goals of flirting. The concept of Courtly Love is also briefly discussed. Instructors

CMA500 - Preparing for your First Event
A class for newcomers to the SCA that covers the basics of attending an event. Some of the topics covered are what to take, what to do, garb, feast and feast gear, court, troll and persona considerations. Instructors

CMA501 - Fit to a "T"
A class for newcomers, both male and female with a focus on the basic "T" tunic, its construction, including variations by time period, choice of fabric. Instruction on how to gather accessories to complete a starting ensemble. Also discussed is how to adapt mundane patterns to make more complex clothing. Instructors

CMA502 - Newcomer Class for Chatelaines
This class covers how to find target populations for locating potential members, how to run demos, the duties of a chatelaine and etiquette for dealing with the mundane world. The class also covers types of newcomer classes and advertizing practices. Instructors

CMA600 - Persona Development
This class discusses how to go about developing, researching and deciding on a persona. Topics discussed include Societal rules, physical limitation or abilities, Meridian weather, availability of resources, time and expense limitations, and personal preferences. Instructors

CMA601 - Persona Improvisation
A class which addresses how to "flesh out" a chosen persona. Tips on how to learn more about your persona would have lived and played. The goal is to be able to answer questions concerning your persona and explain the motivation for actions. Simple acting exercises are performed to help students gain a feel for the "acting" that is involved while "playing in persona." Instructors

CMA602 - Fleshing Out Your Persona
This class is helpful to those who have chosen their persona and wish to develop it further. The 5 "W" questions (Who am I really? Where am I from? What do I do? Why do I do it? and "When did I live?") are discussed. Also discussed are things that would have influenced an individual of period such as birth order, occupation, station of parents, etc. Instructors

CMA603 - Persona Role Models for Fighters
A survey discussion of historical and literary figures who exhibit(ed) characteristics suitable for emulation. Figures include Beowulf, Wiglaf, Chaucer's Knight, Roland, Genghis Khan, Saladin, King Richard, King Alfred, Joan of Arc, Julius Caesar, Charlemagne, King Arthur, William Wallace and others as suggested. Instructors

CMA700 - Planning and Running A Successful Event
A course designed to instruct the would be autocrat in proper event scheduling and planning. Items discussed are getting on the kingdom calendar, the importance of a successful feast, choosing a site, setting fees and accommodating the various individuals who attend events such as fighters, merchants, artisans, etc. Instructors

CMA701 - Preparing Successful Event Flyers
This class discusses the importance of advertising a scheduled event and preparing proper flyers. Items discussed include the different types of flyers, what should be included in the flyer, how to make the flyer attractive and understanding the timing involved to be sure the flyer is published in the appropriate newsletters. Instructors

CMA702 - How to Hold Court
A class intended for heralds, retainers, royalty and territorial barons and baronesses. The class covers what needs to be done in order to prepare for court, discusses what is considered to be "court business" and gives tips on how to conduct a successful court. Instructors

CMA703 - Pavilion Making and Maintenance
This class covers a variety of period tents and SCA tents that can be made by the student. Instruction is given on how to actually make a tent and some patterns are provided. This is NOT a history class, students will learn how to actually sew/construct a tent. The course also covers, materials, weatherproofing, and tent safety. Instructors

CMA704 - Merchanting in the SCA
This class covers many aspects of merchanting and shopping with SCA merchants. Topics covered include: Why merchant, what to merchant, finding supplies, the mundane legalities of merchanting in the SCA, setting up, pricing and selling in persona. Discussion for the shopper include: Where to find what you want, pricing guidelines, keeping it fun and haggeling and bartering. Instructors

CMA800 - Round Table of Knights
A discussion among knights and unbelted individuals who wish to know more about the Chivalry and what is involved in become a member of the order. Topics should include what it takes to become a knight, how knights are selected, and the training of squires. Instructors

CMA900 - Letterwriting in the SCA
Tips on writing letters for award recommendation, notifying officers of problems, and applying for an office. Definite dos and don'ts are covered as well as what to and what not to include in your letter. Instructors

CMA901 - Communication Techniques for Success
This class covers the general categories of communication and their use in the SCA. Categories include, verbal, written, electronic and telephone. How to know you are contacting the right person for your purposes, choice of words and tone, when to copy, etc. Instructors

CMA902 - How to Publish a Local Newsletter
A "how to" class on starting and maintaining a group newsletter. Information regarding purpose, content, frequency are discussed as well as the responsibilities of a chronicler. The mechanics of publishing a newsletter such as size, paper, layout, typesetting, artwork, printing, deciding on whether or not to charge for subscriptions and how to publish a newsletter without loosing your life are also included. Instructors

CMA903 - Basic Grammar
A overview of basic punctuation and sentence structure for missive writers. Some of the focused items include punctuating clauses simply, pronoun troubles and apostrophes. Instructors
