As the World Turns (8/29/01)

During a summer stint in New York City, Marklen spent a few days working on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns. Check out his work at the end of August/beginning of September.

A Movie and The West Wing (4/2/01)

Yes, Marklen's still a busy guy! He's shooting a movie right now, playing a character who ends up in possession of old footage of Marilyn Monroe that could ruin her image forever. All he needs is for the world's foremost authority on MM to authenticate it. The problem? The authority is so in love with MM that he doesn't want to destroy her image by saying it's really her. Sounds like quite the dilemma--can't wait to find out what happens!

And on the TV front, Marklen's shooting an episode of NBC's Emmy-winning drama The West Wing. He's playing aide to the First Lady, played by Stockard Channing. He's shooting that soon; more on the air date when it becomes available.

More Movie News (12/20/00)

Marklen's been busy this fall (and so have I, hence the huge, all-at-once update :-) ). Here's some info on movies he's been working on....

Girl for Girl - He's starring with former Miss USA, Kelli McCarty, in a morality tale about two wealthy guys who are about to get richer if their IPO goes well. But his friend, played by Sebastien Guy, is worried that his girlfriend is after him for his money, so he asks Marklen's character to make a play for her and see if she goes for it. Turnabout is fair play, so Guy has to make a play for Marklen's girl as well. Marklen's girl says no way, but Guy's girl is singing a different tune. Big problems when everyone finds out--it breaks up the friendship and wrecks the IPO. You'll have to wait till this summer to find out how it all ends, though. :-)

Everybody Loves a Star - Bowfinger-like movie where Marklen plays two roles. One is a huge movie star that makes twenty million per film, the other is an out of work actor that cant get work because he looks just like the movie star and ends up delivering pizzas. Their paths cross and the star makes his twin an offer to take over his life for a month so he can get away. The twin starts making career moves and living it up, then soon realizes that the big star life isnt so great when he can't go anywhere or do anything. He does find one aspect of the star's life appealing, though--the star's girlfriend, who seems quite happy with the sudden "changes" in her boyfriend. Will he keep the girl and get his own career? Find out this summer.

Upcoming Indie Movies (5/9/00)

Marklen's just finished a couple of indie movies. One is Santa's Little Helper, written and directed by Jason Smith. Steve Wilder, who played Jack on Days of Our Lives and Sebastian on Melrose Place costars in this movie about a woman looking for happiness and finding only sadness by just missing the good ones. It should get some good exposure at the film festivals.

He's also in End Game by Matt Withers. It's about chess as a metaphor for life, and how each move has ramifications as does what we do in life. Marklen plays the protagonist, Frank Wells, who fights the good fight in the battle between good and evil. This one will also be making the rounds of the festivals.

Bud Lite Commercial (5/9/00)

Marklen's in a Bud Lite commercial that should start airing soon with Lisa Leslie of the WNBA.

Ryan Caufield: Year One (9/26/99)

The Pilot mentioned in "News" on 4/2/99 was Ryan Caufield: Year One. Marklen plays a stockbroker in the first episode, which airs October 15, 1999.

New Movie (5/6/99)

It looks like Marklen may be heading Down Under to film the movie Pub Crawl. The movie "Is a fun, romantic, music driven story, named after the unofficial event of the 2000 Olympic games in Sydney, Australia. An unlikely love story between Jeremy Rosenthal, a third generation accountant from New York and an Aussie pop Diva, Tina James. The young Rosenthal is asked to fulfill a promise for his dying grandfather that was made 60 years earlier in Nazi Germany. The fulfillment of this promise takes Jeremy on an unusual journey within and to the mystical 'Land Down Under'." Check out the movie site, and stay tuned for more details.

Pilot (4/2/99)

Marklen shot a pilot for an as yet unnamed cop show set in Philadelphia. His character is "a stockbroker who thinks money is the answer to everything." It was directed by F. Gary Gray (The Negotiator, Set it Off) and is in development by FOX. More information to come.
