In Memory Of Cassie

Now Playing: "Memories Of You"
Sequence (C) 1999 by Redsal.

On October 23, 1999,
at the tender age of 4,
Cassie left her beloved family.
Her suffering is over.
She has an honored place
at The Rainbow Bridge.

Why?
Cassie was the beloved pet of Sal Grippaldi's
daughter, under Sal's and his wife's care.
On Monday, August 9, 1999 Sal took
Cassie in for routine shots. She was given
the Pfiser 4in1 Vanguard vaccine. By Weds.
Aug. 11 Cassie was blind from a reaction to the
shot.  There were many more complications and
she was on heavy medication.  She appeared
to improve for a time, but her heart could
not bear all the strain to her body.  She died
in the arms of the people she loved
and who loved her in kind.

May the following two offerings bring
comfort and healing to Cassie's family.

Dog On Loan

I'll lend you for a little time, a dog of mine God said.
For you to love while she lives and mourn when she is dead.
The years they may be six or ten or even as few as three.
But will you, 'til I call her back, take care of her for me?

She'll bring her charms to gladden you, and shall her stay be brief,
You'll have her lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay, since all from Earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there I want this dog to learn.

I've looked the wide world over, in my search for masters true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have selected you.
Now will you give her your love, nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call to take her back again?

We answered in sincerity, Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joy this dog shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness, and love her while we may,
And for the happiness we will know, we'll ever grateful stay.
But shall the angels call for her much sooner than we planned,
We'll know the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. With bright eyes intent and with eager body beginning to quiver your precious friend begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, on legs running faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together ...

The story comes from ancient Norse tradition.
