Milita. He was a member of a group under the Command of Captain Adam
Clemont who marched from Bedford County, Virginia to South Carolina in May
1, 1781, to assist General Green. I have since found that he could have been
either a volunteer or active duty and still have a rank of private?

Samuel Meredith (1732-1808) -- Commanded the independent company
of Hanover County, known as the Hanover Volunteers. He was second in command
when his brother-in-law, Col. Patrick Henry, seized a quantity of gunpowder
and other stores belonging to the last Royal Governor and thus started the
Revolutionary War in Virginia. He commanded the First Battalion of Virginia
Minute men and later was a Colonel in the 13th Virginia Regiment. Samuel

John Yount, a wagoneer for the Army, which I guess meant that he
drove a wagon, He was only 15 years old at the time. He lived in PA
and was a short distance from Valley Forge, but I am unable to prove that
is where he served. John Yount was my 6 th great grandpa. |

History of the Panama City, Florida SAR Chapter
Located in the Florida Panhandle, the Chapter was chartered on September
27, 1973, the 21st in the FLSSAR
Membership was 17 Patriots. Thomas Y. Bingham was the first President.
Since 1976 The Chapter has regularly presented Junior ROTC Medals to several
local high schools.
Colonel Henry L. Hinkle served as Florida Society Registrar and as Northwest
Regional Vice President 1982-83.
At the FLSSAR Annual Meeting in May 1989, Calvin E. Sutherd received
the Traveling Plaque and President Bobby Hamilton
(the Northwest Regional Vice President 1989-90) a Meritorious Service
Medal.
