A great resource for anyone planning a trip to Los Angeles, or New York is the book by Michelle Finn called Marilyn's Addresses: A Fan's Guide to the Places She Knew.  It is compact and full of specific information on places of interest relating to Marilyn.  It came out in 1995 and was published by Smyth Gryphon.  It can be found on auctions on the internet and in quality used book stores.

Santa Monica is a wonderful city within a city.    The Santa Monica Pier was one of Marilyn's favorite hangouts.   It is easy to see how on a quiet Sunday afternoon while incognito she might have blended in with the mix of locals and tourists.   This is the famous carousel where she would have watched children riding the beautiful horses.
