Marilyn, a candle in the wind. The legend burns on.

This beautiful tree stands directly in front of Marilyn's crypt in Westwood Cemetery. This memorial page contains no photos of Marilyn as a gentle reminder that she really is gone. Some times it's hard to remember that she's not physically here anymore, since her image is everywhere. However, she is in our hearts and our prayers. God bless you Marilyn, and may you rest in peace.

Virtual Tour of Westwood Cemetery

View across cemetery grounds from Marilyn's crypt.

Marilyn's crypt is in the second columb, third one down from the top with the pink and red flowers in the urn. The crypt to the left of hers is the empty one.

The area surrounding Westwood is very built up.

This bench sits next to Marilyn's crypt for people to rest.

A few years ago I was visiting LA and wanted to see where Marilyn was buried. It was getting late in the afternoon when I arrived in the neighboorhood of Westwood Cemetery. I had never been there before so I got a little lost and ended up wandering around the residential neighborhood next to the cemetery. I passed an elderly gentleman out for an evening stroll and asked him where Westwood Cemetery was. He smiled and said "You're looking for Marilyn aren't you?" I said I was and he gave me exact directions. As I thanked him and ran back up the street he hollered after me"And Natalie Wood's there too!" Ironically, I had walked right past the hidden entrance to Westwood. It was getting late and I was sure they would be closed. I was shocked that I could just walk right in. I visited as long as I wanted and was the only one there.
