Waterproofing D90 Taillights

1. Cut a bicycle or motorcycle innertube into eight inch long sections. Nominal cross section of the tube should be 3 to 3.5 inches. I used a 2.5 inch bicycle tube and it was too tight..difficult to install.

2. Disconnect male plug on rear of light assembly and slip tube over wire leads.

3. Re-connect male plug and pull end of tube over back of lens housing. Carefully secure in place with stainless steel hose clamp. Do not crush housing.

4. Secure other end of tube around wire leads with plastic wire tie after injecting dose of silicone sealant.

This arrangement has proven to be effective in high abuse conditions including snow/slush/rain/mud/gravel/etc.

Downside is increased complication in changing out bulbs.

Upside is bulbs don't have to be changed after every off or on road trip involving water.
