Prince William
School Libraries Association
The Library Is the Heart of the School
PWSLA is currently
a
stronger, more vital organization with tasks shared more widely among
its members. (YAY!!!) Its new Web site URL is:
http://www.freewebs.com/pwsla
We're working together to:
- Meet ALA standards
- Improve library services for students and staff
- Provide a forum for issues
- Promote professional collegiality
Active membership is open to librarians and
professional media personnel currently employed by (or retired from)
Prince William County Schools in Virginia (including library
assistants.)
Associate membership is open to all others interested
in libraries; may not vote or hold elected office.
The membership year is from September to September. A
percentage of the membership must also be VEMA members to maintain our
affiliation.

PWSLA's History
The Prince William School Librarians' Association was formed
in 1991 as an affiliate of the Virginia Educational Media Association
(VEMA). Only three district associations in Virginia hold this
affiliation. In 1996 PWSLA received the Intellectual Freedom Award from
VEMA, enabling us to start our own grant programs. The membership fee
has remained the same since 1991.
