Here's the first "What do these words have in common" puzzle which ran on my puzzle page. You can scroll down one word at a time and try to guess it, or just jump to the answer.

Hints:

• This is a word puzzle not a logic puzzle, e g, The fact that "d" is the fourth letter of the alphabet is not relevant.
• The list is unordered, e g, the fact that "do" comes before "go" is not relevant.
• Mundane knowledge is required: You need to know every word in the English language. Well not every word, just every word in my reference book. No other knowledge is required.
• My reference book for this puzzle is The New Britannica/Webster Dictionary & Reference Guide © 1981 Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc.
• The answer is not "They're all listed in The New Britannica/Webster Dictionary & Reference Guide © 1981 Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc."
• The answer is not "They're all verbs/nouns/adjectives". I made sure to mix up my parts of speech, yet I kept getting those answers.

The solution is "under". All of the words on the list form words when prefixed with "under".
