Background

Performing Arts Resources (PAR) was established in 1981 as the Technical Assistance Project. Restructured in 1987 as PAR, we are an essential resource to anyone bringing live performance to the stage. The companies we serve range from the newest performing ensembles to American Ballet Theatre.

We offer a Personnel network, Consultation Services, Set Recycling Hotline and extensive Resource Center, as well as Seminars, Workshops and Publications that focus on specific issues in the performing arts.

Personnel Network

Our personnel network represents a wide variety of technical, production, design and management experience. Through our job referral service, we fill both long and short-term positions by linking stage managers, designers, technical directors, carpenters, electricians and other backstage personnel with performing arts organizations. We have recently expanded this service to work with administrative personnel as well.

Our personalized approach to this networking is unique in the field. We interview and assess all candidates, and review the specifics of each position to determine the exact needs of the organization.

Set Recycling Hotline

The Set Recycling Hotline is an innovative theatrical recycling and reuse project. Companies and individuals in the performing arts, television and film wanting to dispose of scenic elements (flats, platforms, props, soft goods) and other theatrical equipment call the Hotline and list their items. Companies interested in obtaining such items call the Hotline to acquire information and register their needs.

Consultation Service

Our consultation service offers individualized guidance on specific projects. Through the collective resources of the PAR staff and affiliated consultants, we provide in-depth analysis of an organizations needs. PAR consultations have covered such diverse areas as specifying technical priorities for a community theatre, establishing technical priorities for the refurbishing of a performing arts center and analyzing production operations for a regional ballet company. With the introduction of our management development arm, we are incorporating individuals skilled in the administration of arts organizations who are qualified and available to counsel on varied management related issues.
