Hi! I'm Danny!
Click here to read about my second year and here for additional updates.
I was born May 28, 1997. I live in Maryland with my Mommy Daddy and my big brother, Matt, and my sisters KELSEY AND LINDSEY. I also have 2 dogs--Patch and Aspen.
I like smiling alot and laughing too. I have even started to make more sounds, I have been taking a drug called ARTANE since Feb., it may improve my hand use, but I think I am pretty good with my hands already. The doctors at Kennedy also say it could help my vocalization. But until I get more verbal, I've started using switches and communication devices. My speech therapist, Rudy, brings me lots of fun switch toys to play with. Therapy with him is FUN! I've started using a 'Big Mack' switch to make mommy blow lots of bubbles. I can listen to music with it or even call my brother names with it!! Mommy is trying to get the computer adapted for me also, that will be lots of fun! I got to meet Linda Burkhartand she let me try out some great stuff on her computer. I especially liked her Spider song program. I can not wait to get my own system set up. We are hoping to get theIntelliTools system. You can see me in action by clicking here. Here are some assistive tech sites we like:
RJ Cooper's Software, hardware, and Assistive...
I am making lots of progress. I can sit without support for a few seconds but we're practicing everyday! I support weight on my legs in my stander that the County Infant amd Toddlers program lent me and have started getting around in a Rifton Gait trainer. I am also starting to get up on all fours and bounce, that makes me laugh. Hopefully I'll be crawling soon! But my favorite thing to do is ROLLING!! I can roll to get anywhere and into anything, guess its time for mommy to start baby proofing the house! I have been wearing a BENIK trunk support for added stability since Feb. It seems to help me alot. In Nov. I started FES, functional electric stimulation. I have only used it for a short time now, but mt PT's all seem to think it is helping with head control, sitting, and bearing weight on my arms.
Some people have asked about my great chair, it's a Kid Kart TLC and we all love it!! Please check back often to read about my progress!
My mommy spends lots of time on the internet researching for me and talking with parents of other special kids like me. You can IM her any time at
