Neck and Neck with one game to go - 10/10/04
This years winter melee could not be closer. George Jarrett goes into his last game now he has to win to take the title. If he doesn't then a win by Richard Spillett in his last game could result in him snatching the title. Meanwhile further down the league seven players are still contesting the top six prize money slots.
George Jarrett takes 2nd Bonus Prize for best results over games 5-8 - 03/03/04
On a night of cup and league catch up matches George Jarrett emerged as favourite to land the league title and strengthened his chances of making it a league and cup double by winning his outstanding cup match to put him into the Semi-Final of the Cup. The cup victory was further enhanced for his partner Janet Davenport who inflicted the first Fanny of the cup competition on son Charlie Davenport. Charlie now has two titles for this season - First Fanny of the Cup and First Fanny of the League!
All Change at the Top - 01/03/04
With the end drawing nearer the competition is now getting more intense with yet another leader in this year league. Giovanni Sauguato (Maff) has surged to the top of the table on points from George Jarrett. Meanwhile early leader Kevin Spillett lost his fourth game of the competition. As on two previous occasions defeat was to Roland Jones.
For George it is not all lost, if he can win his game in hand then a victory would put him back on top by a game, and depending on the score could stop Kevin Spillett winning a second bonus round.
As the bottom of the table a late surge from Dave Hurren over the past three weeks has not only seen him go from not having won a game (bottom) to having won 4 out of his last 5 games. Dave is now in 10th place don't get too dizzy Dave and its true you are just a slow starter!
At tense couple of weeks are looming and still this year remains the closest run in to the Melee yet who needs the premiership!
Dave Turner wins 3rd Bonus Prize for best results over game 9-12 - 01/03/04
With the competition becoming closer and closer with every round congratulations go to Dave Turner for winning his last 4 games. The only player to do so. Well Done Scouse! £10 is on its way to you.
Kevin Spillett wins 1st Bonus Prize for best results over games 1-4
With 4 rounds of the League having been played Kevin Spillett is the early leader with 4 wins out of 4 and is now the only player unbeaten in the league.
Meanwhile at the bottom of the table Dave Hurren and Ray George are still seeking their first league win of the season. One of these will get this when a re-arranged game from Round 4 is played where Dave and Ray play each other.
Kevin
Spillett - Winner of Bonus Round 1 after 4 matches.
Bonus prizes to best results over games 1-4, 5-8 and 9-12 will be given out.
First Fanny of the Tournament
As well as the first bonus prize being won the first fanny of the tournament was also issued out by Roland Jones and John Saguato. The good news for all concerned except for Charlie and Janet Davenport is that the prize fund will now be increased by 2 pound when they pay their penalty for being fannied!
