Our truck committee, which meets monthly, is currently narrowing down what
things we would like on our new truck, which we hope to take delivery from
in 2001/2002. Final specifications will be developed over the next
several months, but early plans are for the new truck to include: Custom
construction w/ a single rear axle, 400+ Horsepower diesel, 1200-1500ft/lb
torque, Automatic or combination manual/automatic transmission, Anti-lock
brakes, air-conditioned, split-tilt cab with raised roof, 1500 GPM two-stage
pump, Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS), 1000 gallon tank, foam tank size
depending on type of foam used, Capacity for 7-8 firefighters, Capacity for
1200' LDH plus several 2-1/2" or 3" supply/blitz lines, deck gun, 4 crosslay
preconnects, 4 panel discharges, maybe front/rear discharges, Comparable
complement of ladders, tools, SCBA, etc. - 2 long extension ladders.
Vehicle will NOT include: Generator or an Air cascade. We have
been looking at Demo apparatus from many top manufacturers.
Special Service 11 is due for a complete face lift within the upcoming months.
